| Letting Szmodics go in January 14:40 - Apr 21 with 1810 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | I know we can't be sure what happened and have to trust KMc on his decision to let Szmodics leave in January, but I can't help feeling that he could have made all the difference off the bench, especially when we've been crying out for a bit of urgency in our play. Also, Sunday's match was perfect for Cajuste. I know this has been discussed before, but I hope appearance clauses aren't the reason we're not playing him. If we don't get promoted, our obligation to buy is irrelevant. | | | | |

| Letting Szmodics go in January on 14:49 - Apr 21 with 1687 views | Weekender | He doesn't fit the 10 role and isn't going to play off the left so it was 100% the right all to let him go. | |

Not saying either are worldbeaters, but Szmodics offers urgency which we've been lacking over the course of this season. And Cajuste offers creativity, albeit not when the opposition plays with intensity like Pompey did last week.
| Letting Szmodics go in January on 15:41 - Apr 21 with 1383 views | squiz | He's scored 2 in 10 at Derby so not on great form. The only thing I've heard from him lately is a last ditch tackle against Oxford. | | | |
| Letting Szmodics go in January on 15:46 - Apr 21 with 1340 views | _CliveBaker_ | Cajuste has had plenty of chances this season and he hasn't taken them. There was a lot of talk about apps triggering a clause when he was left out at Norwich, but if that was the case why would we put him on the bench for Pompey? I think he's just not been involved because he's been little more than an expensive pirouette when he has played. | | | |

If I'm honest, I don't think Jens has the stomach for the division. I think that was very evident in his fleeting appearances. As we all know, this is one of the most unforgiving leagues in world football. Cajuste doesn't have the cajones or the fitness to dominate box-to-box. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I would lke to see him in the 10 for that very reason. Thought the second half Saturday was setup perfectly for him in that role.

That's as maybe, but I don't think he'd have been the answer on Sunday...

| Letting Szmodics go in January on 16:14 - Apr 21 with 1164 views | Steve_M | I think it's clear enough that Szmodics' behaviour made him unwelcome in the squad and that he crossed lines that made it very difficult for him to come back from. Not the only person at the club to have done that this season mind.... | |

| Letting Szmodics go in January on 16:14 - Apr 21 with 1151 views | mellowblue | wasn't there disciplinary reasons for that? He had to go. | | | |
| Letting Szmodics go in January on 16:16 - Apr 21 with 1146 views | LeoMuff | There was something clearly serious going on with Szmodics, McKenna who normally plays the straightest of straight bats said he is let go for dressing room harmony, you know it’s not good. As for Cajuste he recently said he has struggled with the nature of the championship “amongst other things” and repeated that line twice. So feels like there is clearly something happening there too which could be anything really, but the Jens we seen fleetingly this season was a liability when having to defend which is not going to help us at all with our resilience issues | |

I work with a Pompey fan. He says Chaplin has been rubbish for them.

| Letting Szmodics go in January on 17:40 - Apr 21 with 868 views | Vaughan8 | I thought he would come good but he had plenty of chances and didn't impress before January. Just one (of a few) that hasn't worked out unfortunately. Strangely he was more suited to our backs to the wall football in the Premier League (as he was at Blackburn) | | | |
| Letting Szmodics go in January on 17:44 - Apr 21 with 852 views | Blue_Heath | There were rumours which I won't repeat regarding a certain winger who interestingly has found form since he left. Szmodics won't be coming back. | |

| Letting Szmodics go in January on 18:31 - Apr 21 with 644 views | OldFart71 | In life we are all different characters and some people we get on with and others we don't. It was said that when Sir Bobby became Town manager he had a bust up with Billy Baxter who if I am correct was having too much influence on the changing room. I may be wrong, but I believe a similar situation was going on with Szmodics which was a disruptive influence. Nobody is saying KM is perfect but many who come across him mostly say he is a great manager. Being in control of 25+ people all with different views and expectations who have to be filtered down to 11 plus the subs cannot be easy and whilst it is his choice when it goes right he's great, but if as with the Pompey game it goes wrong his choice of players is brought into question. | | | |

more a slur of a nasty nature against a fellow player (un-named above) rather than general misbehaviour. He will likely not be back.
