Philogene has been poor tonight. 21:11 - Apr 22 with 1479 viewsTheBoyBlue

Yet he played a big part in the first goal and now has a goal.

I'll take that if we win!

Physically rusty but clearly mentally strong with two penalties in massive games.

I feel for Jack. He was flying and is dropped immediately to get Philogene game time even though he’s been less effective - imo anyway

No, he's getting better. Finally did one of those tradmark cuts inside and shot, which he usually scores from. Haven't seen one of those since before his injury.

Think that's very harsh.

He's been good.

Read that back. It has to be one of the dumbest posts ever. Tonight has been an eye opener on here this evening. Who cares if he touched the ball twice. Aided first goal and scored second. YOUR WORDS.

He's lost the ball countless times. Until the first goal I don't recall him beating a single player. Constantly out muscled. But finished his game well and as you say, he made that first goal and scored he penalty.

Clarke has been pretty poor recently in my view. Pompey was especially bad.

Game of opinions I guess.

He finished well, but he was poor. He's done two very important things too. But he was poor for much if the game, especially up to my comment.

It’s such a waste of time post. I’ve said a few times tonight and commented on a few posts - negativity on here during the game tonight is actually unbelievable
We went behind. We levelled. We won.

I don't think he was flying at all. I thought he was playing his best football before Philogene got injured and then he did well immediately after. But he was off the boil a bit and hasn't been at his best.

Thought Clarke did pretty well tonight but for a couple of silly things.

Philogene is different gravy to Clarke for me. He's a level above. Mich more in control of the ball, closer to him and fantastic movement. Think he's much better off the ball as well and getting turnovers.

Happy to have them both!

That's very harsh considering he got MOM his quality was the difference , and I feel clarke is better to come on when legs are tired away from home

A look back through my previous posts throughout the season will show I'm not one of the negative Nellie's for the sake of it. I've defended McKenna to the hilt, our recruitment to he hilt. Personally I've really enjoyed the season. Some if he noise through the season has been ridiculous. But tonight, after that dreadful performance at Portsmouth and poor second half against Middlesbrough and with another lifeline thrown us by Bristol City last night I was hoping for better tonight. We did improve and the defence was immense in the second half, as has been the norm this season. However, going forward throughout the match our performance was littered with poor passes, too many touches, half-hearted challenges, lack of anticipation of the second ball.

We got the result tonight, that was the most important thing. But we've got a golden opportunity and I want to see us sharper, harder in the challenge, better with our passing. We've shown it throughout the season, we just need to show it 3 more times.

Not looking back at your previous posts but good to hear your'e generally positive.

However.

McK does not need one drop of defending which you have done in the past just to stick short stabs in tonight with 3 games to go - and that is the issue.

Good to hear you have enjoyed the season but your post just about sums up how it's not looked at as a whole reflected season. You mention the last two games before tight match which we won tonight.

It is hard to get a season over the line. Especially when near the top. It started months ago. What was your August or September posts saying?

Not one player tonight - who won the game - was half hearted. Have a word with your moaning self and reflect on what a good at this stuttering stage of all teams season

I think his first 20 mins were quite poor, but he quickly settled after and ended with a good game - don't think his man ever got anywhere near the ball after 25 mins

This is silly. He had a pretty poor game, but was single handedly responsible for setting up our first goal, and scored (albeit very luckily) our second. Outside this his touch was dreadful and gave the ball away countless times. I'm far from a hater, a huge Jaden fan, but it was not a great game for him.

My posts in August and September were generally railing against those who had already decided the season was over because we hadn't won our first six games.

And I wasn't "having a stab", I was merely pointing out that I don't think we were playing very well tonight. We improved and it wasn't our poorest. But there were so many times that we were easily outmuscled in challenges and yes went in half-hearted. I'm not saying we weren't trying, but we just seemed a bit scared of going in for those challenges. And if anything my post was to highlight how good Philogene is that he had been poor yet still ultimately made such an important contribution.

Otherwise I don't disagree with a lot you say. The result was the important thing, it is hard to get a season over a line and I just don't want us to blow this opportunity the players and management have worked so hard to get to.

Yep, not going to argue with that. JC any time for me. Though admitedly it's good to have two players like that who by themselves can turn a game.

My post was mainly meant to point out how good a player Philogene is. In my opinion, he was poor regardless of the decision to award him MOTM, which I obviously don't begrudge him. Yet despite being poor (in my opinion) he still made (in particular) 2 important contributions to the game and ultimately a vital win.

Not dropped, rotated. The players know that they either start or come on later in a game based on fitness or form.
