| Clarke 09:11 - Apr 29 with 6972 views | tractorboy1978 | He was visibly livid during and after his post match interview on Sky last night. Could see how much it meant to him and how desperate he was to win that game. He was exceptional when he came on. Has to start on Saturday for me. He's our most consistent match winner. I think he's suffered in terms of starts for being better off the bench than Philogene but I just always feel more confident when he's on the pitch. | | | | |
| Clarke on 09:12 - Apr 29 with 5058 views | FrimleyBlue | I think starting him is risky. Hes had some terribly starting roles. And we dont tend to get much from jayden when he comes on as sub. If clarke can come on and perform like that sat then keep it the same. | |

| Clarke on 09:16 - Apr 29 with 4991 views | _CliveBaker_ | He'll start, Philogene looked cooked. Walton Furlong O'Shea Greaves Davis Matusiwa Taylor McAteer Mehmeti Clarke Hirst Have to go with that same back 4 if fit, and then 5 changes within the other 6 for freshness. I thought Matusiwa was absolutely dreadful last night, but we need 1 more big game from him. | | | |

Yes Azor was done time and again, worst I've seen from him since the opening day, just need to drag him through one last time hopefully. Haven't seen what the feedback was on Neil but I thought some of his quick passing through the middle made a real difference; there are obvious down sides to other parts of his game but it was mostly a good one to put him into.

| Clarke on 09:23 - Apr 29 with 4883 views | Stenvict | Watching the highlights, I noticed he was encouraging the rest of the team after his goal. That must be the 1st time I've seen him show passion like that, which is really good to see, considering he always seems so laid back. | |

| Clarke on 09:24 - Apr 29 with 4874 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | If the game is 1-1 come minute 70 on Saturday, who would you want coming on to win you the game ? The answer is Jack Clarke. We have won lots of home games with JP starting and then Clarkey off the bench. Has to be same again. [Post edited 29 Apr 9:24]

If we are wanting a more defensive player in that pivot what about young for the final game. Hes played it before. Can just sit and protect and spray the ball around. Thats if azor is cooked. [Post edited 29 Apr 9:24]

I know for a fact that JC is one of the most driven members of that squad, he is ultra competitive and also was very unhappy with his Prem performances last year and is desperate to get back there again and show he can do it.

Neil was decent enough on the ball I thought but he looked well off the pace to me. Matusiwa didn't have a good game but there was so many times he was left isolated by Nunez and Neil.

I'd rather both on the pitch if we need a goal with 20 mins left. But Clarke is just a level ahead of Philogene right now and needs to be on the pitch from the start in a must win, one off game. I genuinely believe we would have won last night if Clarke was on for longer/from the start.

I don't disagree with your assessment of the players but also it is no doubt that Clarke was aided last night by playing vs a very tired Saints defence. Philogene also has been very dominant in home games this year, You cant go wrong either way imo.

I do think this has to be remembered. Clarke is *so* much more dangerous running at tired full backs and CBs. I wouldn't like to be Kieran to make the call on the starting XI, but my gut is telling me to give Jaden one last shot. Me personally, I'd start both and try to get the job done in the opening 45.

He's a better player to finish the game imho. He's proven that time after time.

Agree on this, if Jaden is ok I'd still start him, his pass selection is much better than Clarke's on the whole and he'll be more reliable on the dirty stuff too (tho Clarke has improved on that side significantly). We can't do anything except assume another incredibly tough dogfight. Clarke off the bench to run them ragged late on will do.

Hes more direct and looks to create for others. Jayden is very jayden focused imo with the occasional cross.

| Clarke on 09:46 - Apr 29 with 4315 views | Guthrum | Philogene was very lively and effective for the first part of the game. I'd rather have Clarke's ferocious energy coming off the bench for the last half an hour. | |

Yeah, he was so far off the pace. Absolutely horrendous in that 2nd half IMO. Neil was hit and miss for me, he does some things nicely and he's neat and tidy, but doesn't half let himself down at times on the ball. The fact he stayed out there for the full 95 minutes suggests he won't start on Saturday, I would imagine we've got a reasonably high confidence level on Taylor.

With Azor I think it's a combination of us flogging him half to death because we neglected to bolster that position properly, and him clearly looking like that dead leg injury had knocked something out of him. Yes not quite as hot on Neil's performance as some seem to be - agree he blew hot and cold, seemed for every really nice bit of play he'd give the ball away really cheaply or get caught out of possession. Felt like we didn't really have a midfield for about 30 mins after Saints equalised.

When starting against packed defences he continually runs into dead ends and wastes possession.

Do we think QPR will play a packed defence? They've conceded 70 goals this season! I think their problem is they don't really know *how* to defend. We probably couldn't ask for a better opponent this weekend. Especially if we score early.
