| O'Shea is the best CB 03:47 - May 1 with 1622 views | tcblue | We've had in decades. It is bewildering to me how he didn't make Championship team of the season | | | | |

| O'Shea is the best CB on 07:18 - May 1 with 1361 views | RobTheMonk | He's really developed into an excellent player. I think he's now also got used to the captaincy and really does a good job from what I can see. | | | |

By a distance, I would say.

Think it's just the normal attitude towards the parachute money teams when there is a better fairy-tale in town (Coventry/Lampard, Wrexham, Millwall). Simply unfamiliar to us, it being a very long time (if ever) since we were in the "big dog" position we are perceived as occupying now.

Chambo was a great captain and a good CB, but not in the same league as O'Shea.

| O'Shea is the best CB on 09:58 - May 1 with 813 views | Whos_blue | How many decades are we going back?!? Hunter, Beattie, Osman, Butcher, Mowbray, De Vos and MacAuley are on the phone!!! I'll give you one decade though! Someone mentioned Chambo. I thought he was a great captain but his limitations were sometimes exposed. Dara is the real deal. The nonsense he's had on here this season has been astonishing. | |

Technically, he was, but if we go up, he wasn’t.

Perhaps recency bias but I would go all the way back to Mowbray

I think he's been quite unlucky there. He's so often on the end of set piece deliveries. Had he banged a few in I suspect we'd have had serious interest from the PL in January

That's still decades! McAulay was 15 years ago, de Vos 18 years, Mowbray 26 years. And the other 4 you're talking 30+ years. Out of the more recent I'd say only Mogga is better. Either way it's been a bloody long time!
| O'Shea is the best CB on 11:58 - May 1 with 518 views | Vaughan8 | Lets be honest, he's one of the highly paid players in our squad and therefore presumably one of mthe highest paid defenders in the league. We've had people Like McGreal, Mowbray, Maculey, De Vos, Berra etc etc. some people have short memories. Some of these plkayed in teams a lot worse than we are now and had to do a lot of defending...! | | | |

I remember all of those, but thanks for the concern. O'Shea is a more 'complete' footballer than all of those you've listed - I do think for now Mogga was a more influential CB for us, but O'Shea has it all, technically, with the exception as on the thread maybe he should be hitting the back of the net more. Watch him tomorrow. His passing range, his reading of the game, his physicality and concentration levels are astonishing

Considering O Shea's previous experience it is great to see how much he has come on with us. Testimony again to how we coach players. 2 players I am intrigued to see back in the premier league - O Shea and the other is Jack Clarke - can he finally make the step up. I actually think Walton might be up to the task as well.
