The guy was a ruddy tool for that episode, I was ruddy livid, but let’s get on with it. Now where are the (non loan obligation) transfers Mark?????? Get a move on.* *yes, I can see that yet another post on the subject brings it up. Again. But so what. [Post edited 5 May 18:34]

There will be plenty of others who will fill the gap. For what it's worth, I really don't like how Ashton acted, but I'm savvy enough to know that protests won't make a difference, as the vast majority are 'over it'. For that reason, I'll just move on. The Ashton Out protests have just become an irritation, as there isn't and never will be enough traction to make the point meaningfully. I actually put someone on ignore today, because they have simply resorted to just 'Ashton Out' posts on everything mildly related to him and don't offer any comments of substance anymore. You have to ask if that person has become a bit obsessed about the issue.... [Post edited 7 May 8:06]

The sad reality is that we live in a World now where as many of us get priced out of attending games, it won't matter because there's a waiting list of those that can!! Society and football is f#cked but 'what can you do!'

I was cross at the time as it was such a stupid, naive thing to do, but we need to move on. He has done so much good for the club to date and that is obviously going to continue. he brought in KMK, got the relationship with the ownership team, ground improvements, training ground and still more to come

I can't say I find town an expensive place to watch football, my season ticket is £28 a month that what, 1 and a 1/2 pints of beer a week. Ok you have to add traveling in if your not local.
| My two cents worth, for what it matters…..I’m moving on from on 10:32 - May 7 with 599 views | darkhorse28 | It’s not about the politics. It’s about whether indexing our club to one man was ever a very good idea . He’s worked very hard to put himself at the centre of everything, he controls every exec decision, didn’t and doesn’t value the board and that’s really poor. I don’t want us to be Ashton FC, and that’s nothing do with his politics, it’s dangerous, it lacks governance and it lacks risk management. You might be happy today, and tomorrow, but it’s not how any successful business works. Why would we limit ourselves to marks ceiling? When we don’t need to? It’s not the model other clubs at this level have used to be successful for a reason, they can change management their executive functions have multiple stakeholders. We have Mark. If we want to be better than EFL that really doesn’t work…, if he had a track record in elite or world football, I’d understand the gamble.., but he’s 36 years in the EFL, McKenna is the intellectual capital, partly because of his age profile too, and the owners are the money. Mark won’t allow others to share those roles, cause of his ego, the fact that he’s worked so hard to be the only voice in the room, should be evidence enough that he’s bit the right profile. Limit ourselves to Marks ability. Why would a club with world class resources do that, it wasn’t the training ground, or promoted too soon (see Sunderland) we failed so badly last time because we weren’t good enough off and in the pitch. If he wants the credit, and to be the only decision maker, that does come with agency and accountability. Recency bias isn’t your friend. A great promotion, all the issues are still there - we broke the transfer record for a player who didn’t feature, in the here and now adds little value, and we got promoted by a point. Not talking us down, in EFL he’s done great. Couldn’t have done any more. But do you think Barber and Bloom are worried?? You know that’s where we need to get to, to even survive? Leeds did it, Sunderland did it, Mark produced the 5th worst ever season by a side in the premier league. And you think we should be indexed to him and him alone? Because that suits his career? No thanks. We are bigger, we are better, WE as a club have a higher ceiling than Mark Ashton does. | | | |

I would not say the failure in the PL was down to Mark, or KMK the players. We came up too early and simply weren't ready. We could not have re-bought the whole team. But the positive from that is we know where we went wrong and what we need to do to survive and make a go if it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| My two cents worth, for what it matters…..I’m moving on from on 11:23 - May 6 by _CliveBaker_ | I'm pro ITFC, pro McKenna, pro the players & staff. Its those who deserve our support. I'm anti Ashton. Both things can be true. We were here a long time before him and will be a long time after he's gone (god willing). It's not Mark Ashton's club, he's an employee. I don't like him, I don't agree with his actions, I hate that he invited Farage in to use our proud club as a political football and the response and bare faced lies that followed are unforgivable. I think he's a pr1ck. |
I don’t think any reasonable person can disagree with any of this. It’s where I am at, Ashton doesn’t appear to be trying to repair any of the damage he’s done, because let’s face it, it’s blown over fairly easily. At least it tells us what kind of man he really is.

I like to think I'm a reasonable person, but I disagree with "he's a pr1ck." I also hate what he did inviting Farage in, and the attempted cover up. It stinks. But in terms of sacking someone, I think you have to weigh up what else they've done and up to now he's been excellent for ITFC. There seems to be too much demand for resignations/sackings these days, as soon as someone high profile cocks up. For me he's on the edge, as it was such a poor judgement. But his good work sees him survive with strict instuctions not to doing something like that again, for me. I can also understand why you and others see it as unforgiveable.

There are plenty of causes that should be protested and answered to, which won't ever be because society moves on like a juggernaut. Don't see why that's so hard to believe...

If he has 10 sons, that's cheap takewaways. But he cannot provide season tickets for all 10 sons at that price. Maybe three of his sons stand on each others' shoulders and put a big coat on to get into games. In rotation with the other seven sons. Edit: Perhaps apostrophes are important :) [Post edited 7 May 16:38]

| My two cents worth, for what it matters…..I’m moving on from on 21:40 - May 6 by Nthsuffolkblue | I am quite sure there are people who feel fairly strongly that Ashton should go who will still go because they support the team. Ashton isn't the club. Yes, we know already there are some who are so annoyed they won't set foot in the place or buy any merchandise until he is gone. But attendance alone won't tell you the numbers who want him gone nor the numbers who want him to stay. It clearly remains a highly divisive issue that will only be resolved once he has gone. |
Since you get so triggered by downvotes yourself, waveney, would you care to explain what about this post causes you to downvote it? Is there any part you disagree with? Each comment is a factual statement wouldn't you agree? You may not like it but I can't see what there is to disagree with.

This will dilute Ashtons free hand at the club, give him someone to bounce things off, and put this club in a far more healthy leadership state. The current situation is simply ridiculous and had set alarm bells off for me since the day it happened . And for the record, for all his good work, I’ve always had alarm bells ringing re Ashton. There’s something about him I just do not trust, I can’t even explain why that is, but FarageGate underlines that feeling I’ve had about him since the day he’s joined this club.
