Out of all the souless bowl stadiums 14:38 - May 6 with 2624 viewshype313

Would most agree that MK is the best? Or am I just being biased because it was great fun when we went en masse?

Thought Location, amenities and the Stadium itself was/is nice in comparison to most of the other awful places I've been too.

I hate MK Dons away. The stadium is no doubt a good venue but it does not feel like you are at a football game at all and I always found our away end even when it had loads of fans there pretty quiet and underwhelming.

Depends what you mean by soulless bowl but I prefer Southampton and Leicester.

Purely for comfort & construction, it's an excellent stadium. Nice, big seats & good viewing.
Yes, it's far too big for Mk's fan base. If they were in the PL, it would be great.
Hard to criticise it for being a soulless, out of town ground as that's par for the course these days.
I do wish they'd drop the silly "Dons" from their name. People don't need a constant reminder of where they came from.

They have the benefit of it rarely being filled, if ever, so a lot of the facilities have probably still got the protective plastic on from being delivered and don't get spoiled from being over-used.

Yes this is spot on.

But I’d add that the London Stadium is more Roy than Paul.

West Ham really do have the cr*ppiest stadium imaginable. Lot's of lessons there in terms of owners putting club revenues before fans' wishes.

Did you go to the game when we played them at the Hockey Stadium back in 2004? Now that really was a dump, felt like a non-league game.

Buildings don’t have a soul because they are just buildings and bowls are the best design for arenas. Even the ancient Romans knew that.

MK Don’s stadium is great - at the moment its kinda wasted on them.

Tottenham is hands down the best. Located exactly where the old ground was and you're right next to the pitch.

Arenas are great for Chariot racing - not so much for football :-)

Ah the Dons my local club.

Going to watch them is an experience like going to a gig or show, you pay your money to be entertained. Consumerism, it's not the same as supporting.

I feel sorry for all the kids who grew up round here after the Dons came to town and have adopted them as their own, as they had nothing to work with, no history, no fanbase, no tradition. It's a big slog for them to establish these roots, especially with MK being fairly close to London and most people round here supporting Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs.

relatively close to me so i made the most of both of the L1 games there. It's a fine stadium but obviously rarely anything like full. Was a good atmosphere in ethe away end but laughable that MK maintained they had more fans there than we did either time. The roof is built high enough that they could actually even squeeze another tier in above the current top tier. Not sure if that gap makes it feel slightly odd as well.

My daughter's a teacher in MK and son in law used to play for the MK Lightning ice hockey team so I've been there a lot. It's a strangely nice area in some ways and, as soulless bowls go, a good one. But going to a match is no different to going into one of the franchise food outlets nearby: clean, served immaculately and indistinguishable from any similar site elsewhere. Doesn't feel local at all.

I wasn't born here but really like it, rarely stuck in traffic and loads of accessible green spaces, plus amazing countryside to all sides of the city. Good quality of life here IMO

But the local football team - strong pass!

I went to Odsal for speedway in the 90s did anyone go there in the 80s for the 4-3 win against Bradford when Nigel Gleghorn scored a hat trick? It was so big and vast it was like being at the end of the world.

Huh? Strange comment.

As it happens, I can't remember. I was 11 when I went there for the cup final and, ten years later, not entirely compos mentis whilst watching Pink Floyd.

Why?

It was a terrible stadium, largely because it had the dreaded running track around the pitch, which meant you were miles from the game, especially at the ends & poor sight lines. Basically, a dilapidated version of the Olympic Stadium, redeemed only by the twin towers (which couldn't realistically have been saved or incorporated into the new design).
