Would like him back in the summer, kind of experienced player we need at the back.

I get the sentiment, has been a great player, but we really need players who can play the whole season at 100% if we are to stay up. Could he manage that many games? That league is brutal. He's 34 too.

Please, please, no! That would be a colossal error. Mings is way short of what’s required.

34? That crazy - surely he's still a mid 20's emerging player, with Englad potential? Where did that time go?

Too old and hasn't managed half a season in 4 years.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

In recent days calls for the return of Downes, Parrot, Delap and now Mings on here. Think we need to move on from ex-players/loans and cast a much wider net

Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt

I hope to see at least a dozen new players from all around the world whose names I have never heard before. They cost a total of 100 mil., all turn out to be fantastic players and we stay up.
Ok it's a dream.

We definitely need a partner for Dara, but not an injury prone 34 year old!

Tbf Delap and Parrott are legitimate shouts with reasoning behind them. I would much prefer the former.

Downes absolutely not.

Mings I understand the sentiment.

Not sure we're in a position to be that dismissive, to be honest. Mings has been a very good Premier League centre back for a long time now, even at 33 he's still able to get decent game time for a top five team.

Still younger than Van Dijk, Dunk, Schar, Burn, Tarkowski, Keane and Maguire. Also younger than Granit Xhaka, widely acclaimed as one of the signings of the season. We're not going to stay up just based on youth prospects from the Danish League or whatever.

But he can't keep fit, another Kalvin Philips

You just aren't going to get players of the level required without a degree of calculated risk. By the same logic Leeds should have swerved Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

I mentioned Mings the other day on a post I created.

I think he would be a brilliant addition and the type that, if available and willing to join, I would certainly bring into the building without hesitation.

I'm not saying you get 38 games out of him, but his experience and leadership qualities would be so important for us. It is what we lacked last time in the PL, so hopefully lessons have been learnt.

Left centre back also a position where we've got a younger player who might just be bedding in and kicking on a bit. Wouldn't be that uncomfortable to see Greaves getting a good share of the minutes there.

Greaves will end up getting a decent number of minutes next season, but we will need another centre back anyway.

Signing someone like Mings gives us another dimension of playing a back 3 - O'Shea Mings Greaves - for example. Leeds have had success this season when they have switched to a back 3 and that change looks like it will keep them up.

Depends on the formation really.

I do like Greaves and O'Shea but would feel pretty nervous if that was our centre back pairing.

Rather have John Stones. Mings has lost a bit of pace and unfortunately his brain hasn't responded to correct that, hence he often gets caught out now with badly timed tackles.

For those mentioning John Stones, are you actually being serious? Seen his name pop up a few times but can’t tell if it’s satire.

Bloke was on £200k+ at city and will have plenty of suitors in mid prem offering upward of £100k.

Absolutely no chance he comes here.

Stones is at the backend of his career, he has said his main driver now is actually playing. If that is his truly his main driver maybe he would prefer to be at a club like Town where he's more likely to actually play games rather than sitting on the bench at other clubs.

I don’t think there is much chance either but we would offer serious cash with a stay up bonus. Let’s face it money will not be his primary concern.

The only Muff in Town.

Some good points on his age but it's more his inability to be consistently fit and available that would put me off.

Yes it's not age it's last two or three seasons of one injury or another Stones would not be leaving City if regularly available just can't rely on him.
