Seems to me its 'not being Labour' and dealing with the boats, which still means dealing with the French side like any party has to. What are their policies for the NATIVES then? Domestically it's mainly about eroding workers' rights and rolling back on green energy in favour of fossil fuels. Basically stuff that is going to directly or indirectly harm the majority of people.

0.06% of Government spending is on Immigration, 26% on Welfare. Surely you should be looking at ways to bring down that percentage as opposed to the negligible one on Immigration.

Using the term welfare is wrong too, as that figure includes pensions which have been earned over time by people paying into the system. That accounts for 42% of the welfare bill, with another 6% going to pensioners for housing benefit of pension credits. A further 13% goes to the disabled whilst unemployment benefits amounts to just 3%. Much of the balance is paid to those in work who aren’t paid enough to be able to support themselves or their families. It’s almost as though there is a deliberate attempt to inflate the welfare costs to demonise those who need that support. Blame foreigners and work shy scroungers is the narrative which isn’t really true.

Immigration has fallen significantly recently. Also the easiest thing we could do to reduce 'Illegal' immigration would be to get back into the EU and rejoin the Dublin Agreement. The great irony of leaving the EU to regain control of our borders was that having left the Dublin Agreement we had sole responsibility for anyone turning up on our shores and were no longer part of the mechanism to return people to other EU countries. I think Farage was more than happy with that he needed large scale immigration to build his fan base

Thing is, Benters, that would require extra resources for the police and Border Force, which would have to be paid for with increased taxation*. Plus increased cooperation with our Eropean neighbours, to return people and to stop the boats at source. Neither of which Reform are in favour of. So I would question whether they actually have a viable plan. That's before you consider that Reform intends to vastly increase the number of "illegals" in the UK by abolishing Leave to Remain, thus putting a lot of hard-working, tax paying people, who may have been here for decades, outside of the law. * Talk of making savings elsewhere is deeply unrealistic. There is no fat on public services without more reductions on what is provided (doubly so if more needs to be spent on defence as well). As to welfare, the only benefit which could be slashed to raise anywhere near the sums required is the State Pension - imagine the row that would spark.

Tho a lot of those which are just starting are the ones where parties like the Greens and LibDems expect to do better. So the picture may shift through the day. Moreover, as I said elsewhere, these seats were last elected in 2022, when Reform didn't exist as a political force (with Farage not leader) and Labour were part of the protest vote against a Conservative government. A large swing was inevitable.

You are so wrong on every level. Look at the data and links provided on this thread which shows that much of which you are angry about isn’t true. Look things up, get the facts, check the data, don’t automatically believe what you hear from your echo chamber.

I literally provided a link in this thread which is a fact checked and verified source showing the large decline in small boat crossings this year. Perhaps you should read some of these things before posting. SB

Starmer: "I'm going to reduce the benefits bill by making things worse for some of the people who don't work by ending universal access to winter fuel allowance." Shouty people: "We didn't mean reduce the benefits bill like that" Someone's going to have to do something about the triple lock before too long. That's going to be fun.

The ECHR wasn't brought in by Blair. We've been a member since its inception. What you are talking about is the Human Rights Act which provided remedies in the UK courts, so avoiding the need in many cases to go to Strasbourg. Only Russia and Belarus are not members of the ECHR but both Reform and the Tories seem determined to leave it with all the adverse consequences for civil liberties that would entail. Even if you don't care for people, you do seem to like wildlife, countryside, nature, etc. Maybe have a look at Reform's anti-nature policies. They're no friends of nature and seem to stand for the opposite of what you like. (They would make immigration higher too, just as the Tories did, because their 'ideas' are mostly unworkable).

As a country I don't know how we deal with this sort of stuff. People obviously aren't able/prepared to separate facts form peddled fictions, and then seem to make a lot of stuff up to fill in their massive gaps in knowledge.
