Even if its 15m with add ons ? He certainly never played any sort of game against us until the final 15 minutes or so. The argument is , we went down this route last time we went upto the Premier league, and filling the squad with albeit highly rated championship players got us nowhere. Azeez is English, 24 and a striker and we pay for potential. Not to mention he's showing good talent.
I think 20m is what you'd consider good value in the current market |
He's 25 in two weeks, that's not really a young player by todays trading models.

During Azaz's 4 years in the Premier League, he had a grand total of zero appearances, so is very much in the same category as Azeez.

Was going to say, well, it's inevitable we do some business in the Championship. But I checked and the three promoted clubs this season did almost no business at all in the Championship.
Sunderland signed no-one at all from the second tier.
Leeds got one but it was James Justin who already had 99 Premier League appearances to his name. In January, they also picked up one player who had spent the previous season at a relegated club - Facundo Buonanotte - but he barely played.
Burnley signed one Championship player - Zian Flemming - who's been pretty decent for them, but this is a bit of a technicality because he was actually a loan to buy from the previous season. They also picked up two players who'd previously played for relegated clubs (Tuanzebe and Ugochukwu), plus a third player who came from a Premier League club but who had played all his football in the championship as a loan player (Bashir Humphreys). |  |

With football transfers for a club our size, £20M is never good business, until it is.
I would argue that the £15M for Jack Clarke in 2024 was not great business then, but now looks like good business, similar with the £12M for O'Shea in 2024 dd not seem to be great value for money then but now look at it.
Azeez for £20M seems like a gamble to me, but could prove me wrong - the question is whether it proves good value in 26-27 or afterwards, as we really need to buy a better balance of Prem ready this time around vs what we did 2 years ago. |  | | |

Looking at the highlight reel he seemed to create a lot of chances that were not taken, so will depend on who we have starting up front or in the 10 position. A mix of getting to the by-line and cutting back, so crossing with both feet. Less cutting in and shooting, but getting in good positions for ball coming in from the left.
Always a big if whether a player can step up, but that's the same for bring players in from overseas, and our record of players with "premier league experience" is hardly great. I think 2-3 Champ players would be fine, especially if it was Hackney ad Azeez. |

Sounds very much like negotiating tactics, we don’t often try and sign players then decide we aren’t interested 6 months later, especially £14m ones.
