That's hardly genius level analysis though is it. The two players who really did (at times) look the part at that level were Delap and Hutch and they are both gone. Some of the stalwarts did okay when asked last time, but we just couldn't make up for gap in quality with hard work alone. Cajuste looked good in the Premier League but wasn't outstanding in the Championship, so I can see why we didn't trigger the clause to keep him. |  |

Think playing a more pragmatic game will help more of our current side with going up than it did the last time
We will need some reinforcements thats a given but i think the below with the right squad around them will do ok

A good number of the current players bear no relation in terms of their individual ability to the promotion team of 25 or the depth. Not all, but certainly some will do perfectly well at that level, if recruitment for the obvious gaps (the spine of the team) is got right. | | | |

Massive job mate I’m still not hugely comfortable with our left side of Davis, Philogene and Clarke as just going with that as the 3 that will play most minutes. I think for a team that’s trying to play pragmatically it’s going to be an issue.
I’m really not sure some of those you mention (although an upgrade on last time) are good enough for the squad. Think of the strikers that have destroyed the champ and failed in the PL, Armstrong, Archer even Piroe. [Post edited 18 May 19:15]

I think over 90 mins those two between them are a handful for any defender in the league. Won’t get 27 goals in the PL but they will cause issues as they are using skills rather than speed and pace to get a yard.
The hardest thing where we do need to upgrade is someone in the middle who can get the ball to them early enough and a striker who’s going to cause issues too.
Clearly need some help with additions, but IF we can get a nice bit of quality I think we’ll be in a shout of staying up… will be bloody close though unless we unearth a real gem from somewhere |  | | |
