Arsenal aren't a great watch, are they? 21:51 - May 18 with 2060 viewsDubtractor

I know that isn't an original observation, but every time I watch them I just find the game drifting by without much happening.

Despite having clearly superior players they seem desperate to stop a game of football from breaking out.

I have purposely not watched them last season nor this season. I catch the odd "big game" but they really are a dire watch. Their defence is good and so the non-decent teams do struggle to score against them. Their attack is isn't actually that good bar Saka but they do find a goal and "hang on".

They're really cautious and negative for team that should be a lot better.

That's pretty much how fans of other Championship teams have described us this season. The important thing is we got the job done and it looks like Arsenal will do as well.

Watching Arteta berating the 4th Official about the amount of added time does make you realise what a total class act Kieran is!!!

We are truly blessed and rightly deserves his place as an all time ITFC great manager along side, Sir Alf, Sir Bobby and George.

That was a bizarre second half. Burnley were never going to score if they played all night but Arsenal are so focused on performative game management and time-wasting that we ended up with ten minutes added on. They have been the best team over the course of the season but we don't want to see anyone copying this style.

I thought we were Penalty FC? Don't think we could really be accused of trying to grind it out the way Arsenal do. If anything we've often been on the receiving end of teams trying to stop a game of football from taking place, the time wasting in some games has been unreal.

Town ground out a few results last season. We got promoted. Would you have rather we had played more expansively and ended up in the play-offs?

That second half was painful. Nerves clearly jangling. Still wouldn't bet against Man City cheating their way to another stolen trophy.

Let’s hope so, this will be the most boring team to ever win the league who just got two very favorable VAR calls.

Come on Palace!

You would rather Man City bought the league again?
Arsenal have been dull as they have nervously closed in on the title, but them winning for a change has to be good for the game.

I'd rather Arsenal win the league, doesn't change that they are a pretty crap team to watch.

Yeah but it’s just because I don’t like Arsenal tbh and know an unhealthy amount of their “fanbase”, very few being from North London even though they regularly fly to games.

There’s a strong case Arsenal should be relegated two divisions for North London Forever. But just no to man city cheating another title. Every trophy tainted. An empire built on fraud.

Its got horribly tense to watch for sure. I think the context of repeated 2nd place finishes is important though - they're just so very desperate to not let rhat happen again.

Well, here's the thing, and it's hard to argue against.

In a similar vein to KM, Arteta has them being far more pragmatic. It's not as good to watch as it has been previously. Yet, it's proving to be successful. It looks very much like he'll pick up his first Prem title.

I see similarities to us this season, in that regard.

It’s funny really, it was only 10 years or so ago under Wenger where they were ridiculed for their free flowing football with very little back bone, resulting in a period where they barely won anything.

They went toe to toe with City for 2-3 years trying to play free flowing, gung ho football - Ala
City - which resulted in them throwing the title away.

They go toe a more pragmatic style, taking pride in defending and now find themselves being ridiculed every week for it.

Strange.

Arsenal can play how they choose, it's evidently effective and they will win the league, but as a neutral who enjoys watching football it is a horrible watch!

Pragmatic is one thing, deliberately leaving yourself open to an opponent pinging one in from 25 yards in the last minute is another. I totally understand why Arteta has altered their approach over time, I just didn't think it made sense last night as it doesn't make sense of their clear superiority.

Can’t say I particularly care who wins it, it’s hardly Roy of the Rovers stuff, but having not won it for 20+ years I probably just about favour Arsenal this time when the alternative is City.

That said it would be funny if they lost it from this position, which I still think is very possible if City win tonight. Palace away is a potential banana skin. Either way I want it to go to the final day.
