… going round about UK TV cutting away from Asian players lifting trophies. Theories include racism or some kind of governmental ploy from the Asian countries, requesting their own / rival nation players aren’t shown being so successful.
Some ITFC account is one of those banging the drum loudest (5m views!)…
The original post translates as: In England🏴, it's become a customary event for the camera to switch away right before the 🏆 lifts of Asian players like Park Ji-sung, Shinji Okazaki, Takumi Minamino, and Kusanoff. Among the women, Chelsea's Mai Hamano has also fallen victim. Meanwhile, Daichi Kamada successfully tricked the camera with a 🏆 lift fake and pulled off a ghostly evasion 🔥
This sums up all conspiracy theories. How many countless trophy lifts have there been over the years filmed at multiple angles by multiple cameras, across multiple leagues, countries, competitions. And they've had to trawl their way back through decades of footage to find the ones that 'prove' the theory, those bottom ones are at least 10 years old, some 15 years plus. Via random cup wins, Swansea winning the league Cup, a random play off final, mentioning a random women's game. You look for something hard enough with enough data to look through and you'll find what you can use to 'prove' it.
Haha! What nonsense! Literally takes 2 minutes to debunk this theory. Quick search on YouTube. Son lifting the Tottenham UEFA Cup trophy was the 1st I looked at and I’m sure you’ll find many more examples if you look.

It's not a good thing putting that boll ocks on here. Some of us avoid that poisonous thing for this exact reason.
I disagree. The responses calling it out are why conspiracy theories shouldn’t just be left hidden in self-righteous corners of the internet. The believers suffer with enough confirmation bias already.

Yeah, totally agree. Mainly posted out of curiosity to see if that ITFC account was on here.

Give over. 80% of this bullsh1t, only exists on platforms like Twitter because the truth bar is exceptionally low for the majority of users on them. I can't call them 'theories' as that would mean they have some intellect.
They rely on people repeating them in order to exist. Without oxygen, they quickly die. A large number of those 5m view will be people world wide saying 'lads, have you seen this'. A more accurate figure would be 'watched in full', but that stat doesn't exist.

That on is pointed out on Twitter, they couldn’t get away with that as he was the captain.

Exactly this. Its the old
"My TV remote in my front room is an Tiger repellent device" "no it isnt" "Do you see any tigers here? so it must be true"
its absolute nonsense propagated by bots and bored students on an unregulated platform. Its best ignored, and as for this theory , its best treated with the contempt it deserves
Quite frankly I can't be bothered to look but I'm guessing there are plenty of "cuts" with non-asian players, as well as trophy lifts with Asian players.
These examples spread over a number of years. and some later posts involve Champions league which isn't "UK TV"
EDIT: Cut from Matt Crooks at about 5:55 of this video -
Again to focus on the manager............
Cut away from someone (Jones) at about 11:30
Cut from Rodri - about 11:00
Celtic trophy lift - 8:40
I said I wouldn't do it, but I did just to disprove this absolute nonsense.
Conclusion: They cut away all the time on trophy lifts. Some people don't even get seen at all. Occasionally, it happens to an Asian player and those examples have been picked out over a number of years which of course there will be some.

So that’s one example, got anymore?
Park Ji Sung won 11 trophies at Man Utd. A more robust way to show the credibility would be to show all 11 trophy lifts and him being cut away from in every one. But of course there would then be other excuses. He was man of the match they had to, he was captain, he scored. You don't come up with a theory and cherry pick the data you want and dismiss what you don't like, you look at the data to see what it tells you and then develop a theory.

There is a lesson here, Sitters, on how easy it is to get hoodwinked into believing odd things.
To test it out, pick the 10 most recent trophy lifts on UK TV (or whatever the criteria is that they are using). Before watching the footage, work out how many Asian players there are in the winning team and whether any of them have notable reasons to be shown - captain, goal scorer, man of the match etc. Then see if your dataset is statistically viable (without doing the maths - I hated stats - are there about 10 Asian players involved still or is it only 1 or 2?) If it is a very small dataset you will need to expand it by picking more events. It could be from lower leagues like play off finals etc.
Only once you have worked out how many players are involved, now watch the full footage from each and count the number of times the camera pans away and the number of times the player about to lift it is one of the Asian players identified. Now calculate the percentage of Asian players in the winning squads overall and the percentage of the times panned away that were as an Asian player was about to lift it. Those figures should be broadly similar (again, based on the total number of times you counted the panning away you can calculate a statistical likelihood too. There is a specific formula you can use.) All that will take time and effort.
Alternatively, you can give an AI prompt to get it to find you footage to prove a different bias - "Find me footage of trophy lifts where the camera pans away as a South American player lifts the trophy" etc. You will soon get plenty of footage of what you want (assuming the AI is good enough and your prompt clear enough).
