The hate shown towards Arsenal is quite something 23:10 - May 30 with 4267 viewsIllinoisblue

Seems almost every club admin is bantering them tonight. Chelsea, Liverpool, Forest, even palace piling on with the pisstake tweets.

Just because someone dislikes another club or takes the piss, it does not mean that they hate that club. Minor irritation of mine.

Perhaps disrespect would have been a more appropriate word to use. Either way, rather unseemly.

I think a lot of it is down to how the fans and Arteta behave.

I was fairly neutral today, but prob would have preferred an Arsenal win.

clubs should earn their respect, not automatically be given it.

Im finding it quite refreshing that so many clubs, even Barcelona are getting in on it and Arteta played for them (well there B team at least), are delighting in Arsenals loss so publicly against the kind of media narrative of we all have to support English teams in Europe, colours dont matter etc etc, that tells you alot about how much the current Arsenal team are respected by their peers, not their media cheerleaders, which is basically not at all by the looks of it.

because as we found out when we played them in 2024/25, and no doubt will again 2026/27, they can be jolly insufferable as a team at the moment.

maybe if pgmol actually kept Arteta in the technical area, handed out red cards for tackles like Harvetz, and didnt end the season giving them 11 errors in their favour more teams would like them in moments like this

I've never " just " supported English teams in Europe in 63 years of watching football, apart from ITFC. I call myself a football fan and of course an ITFC supporter. Aside from Town games I will support whichever side who's style of football I enjoy the most, wherever they come from. I never " hate " clubs, that's a very emotive word, but there are a few I really dislike, top of that particular pile being Unreal Madrid.

It seems pragmatic football is now starting to overtake the more gung ho , and possession based styles. Not really to my taste and not what I was bought up watching, but I somehow think I'm not going to change it, so I'll just have to put up with it. Happily for others everything comes back in time, hopefully not too late for me to see the game as I believe it should be played, a second time around. To do that, we need coaches to stop coaching by numbers, so I'm not holding my breath.

It’s just an easy vote winner for your fanbase if you’ve got a trophy or had an underwhelming season. No one particularly likes Arsenal.

I don’t know, feels kinda c***y. I don’t particularly like Arsenal or how they play but just seems uncalled for when official club accounts are taking the piss. Chelsea of all teams after the disaster of a season they’ve had should be keeping quiet the most.

Disclaimer: if Norwich ever get to a major final and lose I would fully support our admin taking the piss.

It’s all the rage now. Gone from Banter to celebrating and rubbing in failure for likes. I’m sure it’s magnified because a lot of people have probably heard then celebrating loudly for the first time in while this season.

As a fanbase in recent years, they have been particularly insufferable though. Especially online. Victim mentality who seem to believe that VAR and every referee is against them when, in fact, they’re statistically the most benefitted team from VAR this season, have received the most penalties this season and have had the luckiest officiating of any side from reversals this season.

And yet still they whinge. And still they moan. And still they spend all game diving and time wasting and cheating. Awful fanbase and an awful anti-football team managed by a moany tw*t and usually captained by a performative be**end in Rice.

Nothing against Arsenal the club proper club. Now the team, this is more difficult to like as a neutral. I expect there are plenty of plastics that think they support but watch them on the tv, thats the world we live in when you have to choose a club like that. Not that bothered anyway weve got our own PL team to concentrate on these days.

Indeed, I’m sure the proper Arsenal lot hate the plastics a lot more than us. At least we don’t have to worry about that rubbish but can still punch our weight in terms of sizable historic clubs with the likes of Forest and co.

I very much doubt their supporters give a hoot what other clubs/other clubs supporters think. Why should they? They’ve just won the Premier League and played in the Champions League Final. That other supporters dislike them and put the boot in on social media just shows how successful they are.

I’ve never understood why people should be bothered what others think. At a far lower ham and egg level, the abuse my club received for having parachute money and alleged favouritism (nonsense) - who cares. It’s just jealousy. So Coventry supporters wanted anyone to be promoted but us. Yawn. Maybe they should have put away the bitterness that we beat them twice and just enjoy their moment.

As for Arsenal, I’ve no problem with them. Never have. For me it’s not saying much because I’m only interested in this club, but they’re the least irritating of the Sky big six clubs.

I’m not fussed over Arsenal or any London team tbh I really can’t stand West Ham though probably because in the 1970-80s we had a couple of big housing estates added to the village, and apparently one of the sales pitches was ‘ be in Liverpool St in 60mins’. Which is rubbish as most of the trains from Benters Junction don’t go directly to LS.

I couldn’t care a less what the views of any non ITFC supporters are about this club. By the same token I’m not interested in hating or liking other clubs.

But to completely contradict that statement, our rivals have to be disliked, not least for the comedy value - the Nunez effect on them was hilarious. And I loathe West Ham to the point that if they go bust, great. Their area can pass over to Leyton Orient who are fine.

I appeciate that I'm going to be a bit of an old fart here especially as this forum is the only social media stuff that I do , but, I watched the game the game in my local last night and apart from the Arsenal supporter and myself, everyone else
was PSG. For my part I wanted the British team to win, and I'm not overly patriotic whatsoever. A million years ago when Liverpool, Notts Forest and Man Utd were winning the Fairs Cup, UEFA and the Cup Winners cup I don't such levels of animosity , if anything, the opposite.

Modern football eh !!!

I felt that way back in the day. I think most people did.

But in this day and age these teams have few British players in them and for me that’s made a difference. I certainly wasn’t supporting PSG, but nor was I bothered that Arsenal lost.

I tend to look for results of teams friends and relations follow and am happy to see them do well.

I don’t do other forms of social media either. Or Fantasy Football, FM25 or whatever, being an old saddo.

Think the Arsenal hate is basically London hate. Supporting arsenal has become an accessory, a performative thing for many people who have never seen them play in their lives.
Having said that in general they’re a good club. They’re not funded by a despotism, they bring youths through, ok they aren’t exactly thrilling to watch. And I don’t understand the hate towards Rice, surely the most bland boring vanilla inoffensive man in football.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Completely agree with the performative aspect - Arsenal more than any other club seems to attract a section of supporters who are incredibly performative and do it just to be seen doing it.

I was asked yesterday why I wouldn't be actively supporting Arsenal in the final after I'd described them as easy to dislike. And beyond the above reason I came up with:

- Arteta, no doubt a talented manager but a bit of a weirdo.
- North London Forever, a truly awful song.
- Playing style, a virus upon football this season.
- Definitive Article, the instance on calling them 'the' Arsenal.
- Arsenal TV, gave rise to the 'FanTV' which has replaced actual football coverage.
- Thomas Partay, that whole affair was a bit of a stain on the club.

Being balanced, you could probably make similar lists for most big clubs.

Some of the Arsenal players are likeable. However many are not including the manager.

He is constantly out of his technical area, they play boring football mostly and the fanbase are insufferable.
Plus on top of that you have the commentary team last night eulogising over how well they played despite zero attacking threat. There was barely any mention of the handball that led to their goal, the handball by Saka and the omission of a 2nd yellow for Mosquera.
And yet they spent 15 mins claiming a pen for Madueke that was never a pen.

They are a very easy team to dislike.
