“I’ve told my team to keep me away from the noise”, then goes on to rant about the noise he’s been told about by his team with people discussing who’s been spotted in Ipswich.

Just to add to the noise, heard from mate at ManU that OGS turned down Wolves job, and is discussing backroom staff he’d like to hire from United.

The EADT report that it will be OGS or GON. I’d suggest that means we’ve struggled to attract a boss.

If it turns out to be wrong then I’ll reassess.

And yes I’d say we’ve achieved three promotions despite our recruitment. I’d say mediocre rather than appalling.

So many things wrong here I don't even know where to start.

IF what the EADT report is true, that still doesn't mean we've struggled. It means they're the two choices we fancy. Just because you don't fancy them doesn't mean we've struggled. We have no idea who else has been in the running/interviewed/discarded etc.

To say "achieved three promotions despite our recruitment" is just baffling. The fact that we achieved those 3 promotions is a literal example of how the recruitment must've been pretty good. If you expected MORE than 3 promotions (including back-to-back promotions to the Prem) then you're in moon on a stick territory.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He's the CEO, it is his team?

We know, so there's no need to claim ownership.

I dislike anyone saying it to be honest. Its poor leadership.

the point is that bigger men would refer to the team, not have to remind everyone else (and himself) that it's HIS!

I think you need new mates.

OGS 100% didn’t turn down wolves, whose Chinese owners are best pals with Jorge Mendez.

I wonder if Jorge, who is world class, recommended Ole or the Portuguese coach (his client) who got the job? .., tell your mate to stop making crap up, unless you made it up. Then can you please stop making crap up.

Utter made up b/s. And I doubt Ole has representation, he’s such a poor option. Dreadful manger.., great player tho, but then so was Terry Butcher.

You're getting angry at a possessive adjective.

Is it? My managers/bosses over the years have used it and I have never once thought anything of it.

It's such a non issue but it's the internet and Ashton is a naughty boy so might as well pick apart every single thing he has ever said.

What about 'the team'? Seems easy enough to pronounce an you don't sound like another business school dropout

It occurs to me that he's not particularly good with words. Although, for instance, it may have been Phil who introduced "direction of travel" notions here to which he responded in kind, he generally, as has been previously noted, leaves no cliche knowingly undersold.

Sure, he knows his own mind, and prefers using ten paragraphs when three would do, being always urgent with his points, but I still think he would rather be working than complying with media duties. Words may flow, but the stream is clogged. I genuinely don't think most of us have much of a sense of him as a man beyond his obvious work ethic. Being caught on the hop and doubling down around the Farage stuff does not necessarily indicate the heart of a man, unless, you think that politics is really life.

if he says 'the team' i assume he's referring to the eleven on the pitch. very sensible of him to distinguish between 'his team' (management / admin) and 'the team', surely? avoids confusion in a football club..

Some people love to over analyse every last word he says. Looking for something to criticise.
If he didn't say anything, the same people would be moaning about the lack of news.

He doesn't really say that much, it is mostly corporate mumbo jumbo.

Typical corporate bollox innit. Hear it everyday , water off a ducks back

Out yesterday with my boss. They referred to us and my peers as “my team “ ….i think it’s funny

I've had the opposite experience. They've all gone out of their way to accommodate any requests and help with anything they can.

Imagine McKenna said my team. No one would have even noticed.

It’s a vibe come on. He reeks of it. We’ve all
met people like him. We know who he is.

He should not have full control of the club. It’s asking for trouble.

He doesn't have full control, we have owners, its the owners who have full control.

Some people really need to understand how a company operates.

McKenna Leaving Town to Take Time Away From Football 10th Jun 2026 18:00
Town manager Kieran McKenna has sensationally decided to step down from his role at Portman Road and take time away from football management, the club has announced. 195

"Town have known about McKenna’s decision for a couple of weeks and Ashton will have begun work on finding the man to replace him"

...also here on talksport

so yes KM resigned on the 9th but the club and MA knew about two weeks before then.....nearly 4 weeks and still no manager at a crucial crucial time for us. Thought MA had lists and we are always protected.

I dont particularly want to argue the point (I'm laying by a pool in 30 degrees in Croatia), but you did say "It's nearly 4 weeks now without a manager". Lets leave it as a choice of words

I may have misread it, but I thought Ashton saying "my team" meant his leadership team or team of advisors, admin, etc., immediately around him, not the football team.

I'm 99% sure McKenna will never have said 'my" team. It will always have been us, we, the group etc.

Its not a biggie in the scheme of things though.
