Because we are a newly promoted club, so survival this season is the brief for GON, who has shown himself to be a far more adaptable coach, in formation & tactics, than KMcK was over the last few seasons.
He may well fancy a 4-2-3-1 all things being equal, but for a newly promoted side, that will have a number of new players in the starting XI, defensive solidity, or perhaps an extra body in midfield, are very likely to be our tactics IMO.
Taking on established Premier League clubs, in a like for like formation of 4-2-3-1 would seem somewhat foolhardy, especially given our experience from the season before last.
