| Count Binface on R4 Today this morning... on 15:10 - Jul 9 by jasondozzell | Hmmmmmmmmmm. I watched last night's Newsnight (a programme which has already declined in quality after the BBC's decision to cut its investigative reporting and turn it into a short political chat show) with dismay. These are febrile times for a reason. The planet is burning, Britain is politically dysfunctional and yet the commentariat amuse themselves with tittle tattle. Binface once would have been a footnote. Now he's the story. There's absolutely no interest in understanding what's happening and what has happened in Britain. It's as if the London 2012 Olympics was the 'end of history' moment for the chattering classes in this country. We're in trouble! And yet there's no curiosity at all. I find it all very unsettling. |
The problem is that the people are aware we're in trouble but they've been duped into thinking Farage has the answers.

That's an interesting first sentence. Now go further! Then we can get some analysis going. Keep asking why.

| Count Binface on R4 Today this morning... on 14:39 - Jul 9 by jasondozzell | I actually agree with BelsteadCav here. The liberals aren't interested in argument or debate anymore. It was depressing to see the Today programme and Newsnight hosting huge Binface sections on their programmes and chortling along. The country is in dire straits and there's no interest in anything of substance. There is a crisis in liberalism which has been exposed as empty nowadays. The 'we need a grown up politics' seem to be the same lot now giving themselves a hernia over a Have I Got News For You level joke from a BBC comedy writer. And there's a particular kind of smugness in the Richard Osman centrist Dad archetype which is incredibly dangerous I think. Binface was perhaps vaguely amusing the first time. He's not going to win the by election. So what is going on? I think the other parties will regret not running. It's the People's Vote brigade again and I can't believe they are making the same mistake. Is anyone prepared to do any serious analysis? [Post edited 9 Jul 14:44]

This by election has absolutely nothing to do with the country's underlying problems - its a tool to get Nige out of trouble, at least for a little while. And remember why he's in trouble too please. "Serious Analysis" is actually hindered by this huge distraction. So why would other parties regret not partaking in such a sh1tshow? Its not the People's vote lot either - its every serious party: blue, red, orange and green + even Restore.

It absolutely appeals to the People's Vote lot. Who incredibly still haven't clocked that they were used and then dropped by the worst people in politics. Of course it's a strategic gamble by Farage. And totally fine to have issue with him and the circumstances. But in a country where Reform are the leading party it is poor that no one else seeks to stand. And can we try and address why this is happening - no one is interested in Reform's rise and what has enabled it.

If Führage wins the first by election, he will pretty much be bound to win a second by election, which would split his anti-vote several ways. If he loses the first, he will have such a hissy fit that he just might disappear up his own backside. Vote Binface!

Struggling to see the parallel there. Leave lied on the side of a bus. Binface is telling the actual truth. It will cost us another £380k to run the second by-election if NF is recalled after winning the first one. I would rather as many people knew that as possible, and Leave proved that putting such information on the side of a bus works well. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I truly despair 😅 Why wasn't there a People's Vote? Look at who was running that outfit and how quickly they dropped it...Ask why! Re Brexit. It was never about Europe. It was a bloody nose for the establishment. Why? And the reaction of the professional managerial class to the vote confirmed the suspicions of many who voted for it. I voted remain but you could see early on that unless people sought to understand they were doomed to repeat the same mistakes. [Post edited 9 Jul 16:35]

Why is this happening? Because serious people who actually want to get on with doing stuff don't want to validate the biggest hissy fit in political history, don't want to validate NF trying to stall or derail a legitimate enquiry into his funding, realise that they will almost certainly have to do this again in a few months time anyway and object to the huge waste of money this is going to be. That's why they're not standing. They'll stand if they need to if NF turns out to be a wrong'un. That's the point at which Reforms' rise and what has really enabled it will be laid bare, something I think a lot of people will be interested in.

Word salad. People's Vote, something that you seem to be desperate to crowbar in ever since I mentioned a bus, never happened. Irrelevant. NF's hissy fit by-election, definitely happening, expensive, unnecessary and likely to have to be repeated. I believe that people ought to be informed about this. You just want to use long sentences and oddly closed questions to attempt to ridicule anyone who doesn't share your opinion. Oh well.

Q1 - you know what I mean, don't try to set me up so you can have another pop, it's tiresome. Q2 - don't get what you mean Q3 - who knows, but I'd like them to have a chance to decide whilst fully in possession of the facts.

You're entitled to your opinion! But think about why the People's Vote didn't happen and we got the hardest Brexit possible. If we don't get beyond the Richard Osmanification of British politics we are doomed.

The obligation does not kick in at this stage when the date of the election is not even known, and does not include giving every candidate air time, only listing all candidates when any of them are given air time.

lol. You’re not supposed to take him seriously and it’s not an establishment conspiracy. If it was it would be the worst one ever, as he’s been standing for years and getting nowhere. He’s only poking fun at politics and carrying on the proud tradition of British eccentricity.

The funny thing about you having a pop at the lefties on here, is that it is so obvious that you live your life in a right wing echo chamber. You're on here parroting the lines and talking points at every opportunity.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm That's lovely but we're about to usher in fascism, the planet is being burnt to a crisp and the middle class aren't going to exist in 10 years. Can we stop the Amando Ianucci stuff now and actually get serious or are people unwilling to actually face the reality?
