Are they ever going to actually play a full season in Ipswich? Was there a rumour Ipswich Wanderers ground would be their new base one day?

Ah, so that’s why we’re having to wait for ours. It’s only right I suppose. Women first and all that

Bumped into a mate who’s not connected to the club but reasonably in the know and apparently we’re throwing around some fairly sizeable wages in terms of the women’s game.

I assume it's contingent on us signing every Scottish player we can find?

I am very intrigued to learn more about this ‘investment’. To me personally the idea of outsourced investment makes very little business sense while we are playing at Colchester’s stadium in WSL 2. I imagine the ownership group are going to set out a clear long-term vision for the side. I will 100% be renewing my season ticket there this week.

Wasn't there a big financial thing of being able to sell the ladies team to ipswich town fc, so if we increase it's profile by investing in it, then we can sell it down the line to ourselves

Yes but we also lost our (arguably) best two players in the stunning Natasha Thomas and the other one.

RIP Sir Bobby

They will have their own home in town within a couple of years. Last whisper I heard was something being put in place on the pitches at Venue 16, but may well be other options on the table.

From my understanding, it's more than just off-loading it for FFP reasons or anything like that. The party coming in has plans for the women's team which are very exciting.

Are they also partial to the odd Audi and HobNobs?

Hopefully that loophole will still be open by the time we try to exploit it!

It's an odd one as it seems we are significantly investing in the team, but then will ask them to play in Colchester or near Venue 16, which I think will really limit attendance. Most WSL2 rivals play at their main men's stadiums.

Exciting times in the women’s game .. with Brighton looking to build a stadium next door to the men’s and the London city lionesses building a squad of galácticas..the big 4 as well going from strength to strength too… Ipswich are well placed to be part of this with American owners clearly wanting to do the same as women’s football is popular over there and this World Cup making soccerrrrr even more of a thing… excellent for the Ipswich profile.

Poll: 2026 World Cup winners ,your prediction.

The same Thomas who rarely started last season as we needed to kick on with better? I think losing Peskett a blow but she went up to WSL, I think the signings coming in are a level above Tash.

Which ringfences ITFCW from the risk of defunding fm ITFC. These are exciting times - we have invested hugely after a close of season that had us top 5 on form. Of that top 5, 3 went up. Leicester came down and are likely to face financial constraints. Southampton have reduced their funding by 500k and actually told their squad they dont want promotion, as it would be unaffordable.
I think we are going for it.

” Most WSL2 rivals play at their main men's stadiums.”

It’s only 5 from 12. As much as I’d like to see them playing at Portman Road, and hope it happens, it does complicate logistics. 5 of the WSL2 grounds are also tiny compared to Colchester.

Sorry, yes, it was five last season. Bristol City (Ashton Gate), Charlton (the Valley), Forest (City Ground), Sheffield United (Bramall Lane), and Southampton (St Mary's). Charlton went up and Leicester came down, so not sure if Leicester will continue to play at the King Power as they did in the WSL.
