‘Philogene ready to leave Ipswich’ - BBC 23:21 - Jul 16 with 7279 viewsIP1Blue

‘The 24-year-old has a growing list of admirers, believed to include Bologna, Roma and Benfica.’

By the sounds of it, I don’t think we will be seeing him in a town shirt next season!

For such a young player, he does seem to move clubs on a pretty frequent basis. There is a big talent there, but never really settling in one place for long will probably mean he’ll not fulfill his promise and become more of a journeyman in the coming years.
Hope I’m wrong because he seems such a nice level headed person.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

We also have a certain Jack Clarke waiting in the wings!

And sorry if I upset you with my comment on a new signing yesterday, I really didn't mean it in a bad way.

Us Southern Tractor Boys must stick together.

I think Philogene has the higher ceiling. I’m not totally convinced either are good enough to make an impact in the PL, but I suppose it’s unfair to judge Philogene too harshly based on how disrupted his last PL season was.

Who knows though. Both of them might be more ready than last time and we have no idea what impact GON will have on them.

Thanks for the Naaridge goals, your heart was never in it was it Jaden as shown at end of season.

Good player but equally good riddance, arise Sir Jack of Clarke.

Couple people getting angry at this. Wonder why.

I’d say it’s more on you that you immediately go to race when talking about a player, but that’s just my thoughts. At least say it out loud rather than making snarky comments.

There's lots to consider now isn't there.

I actually think selling him, if we could get a good fee, will give us a big leg up in a position we don't 'need' with Clarke and Mehmeti both being good players in that position.

I'm a fan of Clarke over Philogene, but appreciate Philogene's ceiling may be higher. Clarke won me over with his change in how he worked last season to match how Philogene covered the ground.

Agreed. Philogene has always looked lightweight for the PL & I think he'd do better in a European league. As long as we get a chunky fee with suitable add-ons, I think this could be a good move for all parties. Maybe GON doesn't think he's what we need for a relegation scrap.

To clarify my position, I don't consider him lightweight, there are other 'lightweight' players who have sufficient skill to be successful in the Premier League and I think he's one, but I also think Jack Clarke absolutely a comparable player, perhaps quicker, so we have that position covered.

I'd love to see us get a back up, someone with potential in that position perhaps, can afford a bit more of a gamble with Mehmeti able to cover (although I don't think he's likely up to it in that position) 10 better perhaps.

On this, I've just learned that he hasn't changed agents as such, it's just that his existing agent has joined an agency. This will all come from the agent looking to agitate for a move.

Well that's it then. From what we saw of his agent in the past I am not surprised one bit

Indeed, it did strike me as a very similar approach, so not surprised to learn Ivo Camacho is still his agent.

Is the bit in the BBC that the club "won't stand in his way" broadly accurate, do you think?

I think if they got the right offer they'd accept it.

Same as with music, the bands go with the agent if they move to a new agency. However there is no contract between artist and agent which is fairly bizarre.

Ed Sheeran has had the same agent for years but has gone through 3 maybe 4 agencies for example.
