Its quite a hilarious article - basically saying Everton 'SHOULD' buy him cos they have lots of money now, and cos he wants European football and Everton 'SHOULD' be in Europe in 2027/28

I’m unsurprised that he wants out- let’s not forget, he rejected us to go and sit in the reserves at Aston Villa for a few months, before McKenna went back in for him.

It’s a shame, but there’s always been weird noise around him at every club he’s ever been at- I appreciate he’s just changed agent, but remember when they were claiming Barcelona were interested? lol, yeah, chinny reckon boi.

I hope he stays and makes Ipswich his home for the next few years, but I expect Philogene to be somewhat of a journeyman his whole career.

He didn't have any choice in the Villa move - when we made our move Villa exercised a contract option that he didn't have any control over.

He's ambitious and has an agent who likes making a lot of noise (he's changed agency but his agent has become part of that new agency so it's still the same guy making rubbish up!).

I personally think a lot of the noise at the minute is just getting his name back out of there in anticipation of him having a good Prem campaign with us and getting a big money move in Jan/next summer.

All this consistent “noise” in collaboration with his seemingly Laissez-faire demeanour, isn’t a great look. I’d love him to stay, but he isn’t actually good enough for us to be putting up with this silliness every transfer window.

This is the main problem of this transfer, if JP goes we cannot have Jack Clarke as our starting AML, see notes from previous time in Premier League, so we have to buy another player of equal and/or better quality.

As it stands we have a training camp this week with one new player going on it along with the likes of Mehmeti and Al Hamadi who will never play in the PL surely in a million years, so a bit to do for sure.

Excellent, we'll get a good fee if he stays in the Pl. Really irritating having a player (or agent) hawking themselves around each transfer window. Get rid and use that big fee for a couple of top signings from the continent.

Why not? Philogene hardly set Prem alight last time and didn’t look any better than Clarke, I think Clarke will be more prepared and ready to prove a point. Also I think he’s improved since our last promotion.

I also think there are other players in our squad who can play on the left
such as Mehmeti, not saying he’s Premiership quality but he didn’t play on the left side last season much, if at all.

I don’t want Philogene to leave but if he thinks he’s too good for Town and wants another move, providing we get a good fee let him go I’m not convinced he’s going to do well next season anyway.

Why not? When JC played in the PL before he got the ball and got it taken off him off pretty much every time.

He is an excellent champ player, maybe the best, but, he cannot operate the left hand channel as a starter against that standard.

That's facts.

Mehmeti is miles off top end championship standard, expect he will going to Derby this summer or similar.

I certainly don't get the idea that he is likely to get a serious offer from a club above our level. He has done nothing to prove he is better than the level he is now at with us.

I hope he does prove it with us. Unless he has a ridiculously low release clause built into his contract, who is going to pay what we would want for him right now? That has to be well in excess of what we paid for him so ÂŁ30M minimum.

I really dont think we can compare Jack Clarke from 2 yrs ago with what he is now. Hw's matured, is much stronger and most importantly knows the club and systems. I know the latter will change, but imo he's in a much better place than when he first joined.

They could all have the season of their careers and score 15-20 goals that is very true.

But, going into the first game which is must win (yes, I am coining it that off the bat) if we are starting with Jack Clarke as the focal of our attack off the left and to create chances it will likely be all over by January.

For me, Mehmeti is a top top league 1 player. If we can get 5-6m for him to a Derby, Stoke whatever that would be very good business.

Isn't that conditional on them not managing to do a deal with City for Grealish?

I know he is an Everton fan, but at 62 isn't John Parrott a bit old to be starting a footballing career? The games gone.

From what I've read they want a sub ÂŁ10m deal for Grealish, if not, then they go for Philogene for ÂŁ40m (reportedly our asking price).

All of that feels a bit like someone made a story up to me.
