Following BlueAndTrue's thread about John Cleese endorsing Rupert Lowe after being an all time comedy great, I thought "How about a thread on "celebrities and famous people" that you thought were great/inspirational/etc only to be disappointed and find out they a c#@t!

No one who wasn’t completely stupid could see what Brand was from the off. Basically the Andrew Tate of the Radio 6 dad generation.

I met Ian Marshall as a kid and he was great. Swiftly unfollowed him on Twitter as an adult. Perhaps way down the scale there.

Same with Saville. If you were casting the part of nonce and he turned up you'd have sent the rest home.

In personal experience, Pauline Quirke.

On the contrary, Jo Whiley was lovely and so is Robbie Savage by all accounts.

Also heard the same as others about Cilla Black, Olly Murs and what will come as a surprise to no-one, Jim Davidson.

I was taken aback by how nice Craig Bellamy was in person when i met him during the 2012 Olympics (along with all the teams). Given his reputation when he was a player and the sh*t team he played for.

I met Stephen Fry in the mid 90,s. Was friendly as hell, possibly too friendly..

That seems to be a common thing with him, really nice on a good day but on a bad day you don't want to be around him.

But, given he's got cyclothymia, that's not exactly a surprise.

Back in the early 90's when I worked at the Little Chef, he came in one Sunday morning after a gig at the Spa Pavilion, he was, by and far the rudest, most vile, arrogant, miserable, B'stard I have had the misfortune of meeting.

It's hardly a surprise he comes in as a right berk, was glad to see him get cancelled.

Think he was also dazzled by my stunning good looks and charming persona

I actually met him around the time he went missing and he did seem a bit flustered to begin with. But he soon relaxed and was genuinely quite funny

Two stories about that scrote Davidson.

Firstly, when he was running the Wellington Pier in Gt Yarmouth, someone I knew who did a lot of work with handicapped folk with cerebral palsy, MS, Downs syndrome and the like, went on a behind the scenes tour with some of them of the Wellington Pier Theatre. During the tour, they ran into Davidson, who, to be fair, was the perfect gentleman, wished them well, and seemed to take a genuine interest in them.

Then, when walking away, and thinking he was out of earshot, he started laughing with his mate about those he'd just spoken to, mocking their disabilities, calling them sp****cs, and behaving like Trump did with regards to that reporter a few years ago.

The chap I knew saw Davidson do this and called out to him....

"Jim? JIM! Rachel here has one last question"

"Yeah?"

"She wants to know why you're such a F***NG C**T!"

And then left.

Then there was this legendary Popbitch story, which, is bona fide according to someone I knew who would have been in the RAF at the time.

Blue Christmas <<
Jim Davidson makes himself sick

Nice to see our new, ethical TV bosses thought
it was a good idea to pay 60k to try to help
a racist, homophobic old bigot like Jim Davidson
resurrect his career. Someone who attended the
filming of his Christmas show about 20 years
ago, at Germany airbase RAF Gutersloh, recounts
the experience:

"Davidson spent a few days at the base doing
military things, like driving a tank, shooting
at the rifle range. Then he did his stand-up
show for us. Staff had brought their kids with
them, as it was billed as a family special, but
it was rather blue. People were *not* pleased.

"The next day Davidson had one more task to
do for the TV show - fly in a Harrier. The
pilots got their own back with 45 minutes of
aerobatics. Davidson vomited all over
himself, and lost control of his bowels. He
was in such a mess that ground crew refused to
help him from the aircraft. His production team
had to sort him out, plus clean the cockpit. We
had to replace the parachute and part of the
ejection seat, but it was worth it."

What the above also misses out is that apparently he spotted a couple of black RAF airnen in the audience and started doing his Chalky routine towards them. The rest of the crew didn't take too kindly to this, and that was another reason why they really went to town on looping the loop.

Plus, I was also told that don't believe for one minute that he's beloved by the forces. They couldn't stand him. The Falklands Garrison was less then impressed when he showed up with a camera crew.
