Should we be concerned...? 17:22 - Aug 1 with 1520 viewsThatMuhrenCross

Appreciate these are only friendlies, and results mean nothing, but in all these friendlies so far there's been next to no decent moments. You'd think that against Wycombe and Oxford we'd at least be able to show some level of dominance.

Please someone reassure me, it's making me a little anxious.

If you are looking for reassurance you've definitely come to the wrong place!

I guess its ok to be concerned. 2 games today against 2 teams that are far away from PL.

I wonder if the manager knows his best team. Its time to play them together now.

It’s an early pre season game; vallecano and union berlin are games.. on 17:27 - Aug 1 with 1341 viewsunstableblue

… to focus on

That’s when we should see a team emerging and getting closer to the starting 11

If you're a simpleton, yeah.

If you're normal then you'd just shrug any pre-season result off, even if we won 10-0.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I'd perversely maybe feel a bit worse if we had a settled poorer first team in friendlies that was kicking teams arses and being moulded into a team to take on the season.
I'm almost relieved that we look exactly what we are, a team that is barely half built, further out from the start of the season than the teams we are playing and clearly with more players to come and more training and building to hit the new first team.
I'll be concerned in a week or two if nothing changes though.

I’d encourage you to google Sunderland’s pre season results last summer.
Largely under whelming.
Beat West Ham 3-0 on the opening day and by and large didn’t look back.

Agree today’s result(s) is meaningless, especially the Oxford game

However, if at Union Berlin we lost badly but MORE importantly looked really disjointed then I think fans would be rightly concerned.

You say the results mean nothing and are only friendlies then you read a lot into those friendlies that you say don't matter to draw some conclusions.

I don't think this is anything like the team that we will see a few weeks into the season.

Getting worried in advance over a hypothetical situation is arguably more daft.

The next 3 friendlies are more important get a bit of a settled side and get those players in that we still require.

He probably doesn’t know his best team yet, and even if he did it’s likely to be completely different by the time the season starts. I suspect (hope) things will start to take shape over the next couple of weeks. I’d be worried if we’re still playing fringe players and out of position by the time we get to Vallecano, and you’d hope we’ll see a sharp team performance in Berlin.

These are friendlies and results mean nothing.

Pre season is the worst product in sports, fair play to anyone that actually travels to watch it. Didn’t we look mustard last year and then not win until September?

It’s all just trying to get closer to match fitness, many of the players won’t even be at the club in a few weeks. The systems and patterns of play will not develop in these games but on the training ground and real football.

My only focus is the transfer market.

I'd be excited TBH

Seriously some of the football in this latter game today was beutiful to watch. Stick a midfield into the picture too and it could be a magic season

Important we fill some very important areas

We seriously need to look at LB, if it's Davis, fine of course, but the cover has to be better than Johnson or Greaves.

In regards to Greaves, please for the love of good can someone tell him he is able to look to the right and find fatawu

Maeda - Think reuser but with pace
