Looking good again.

Would love him to be involved going forward but just can't see it.

Looks so classy on the ball. Really hope we make a space for him in the squad. There's 1 or 2 I'd rather lose than Cam.

I really wouldn't mind it as a 5th if for example we took some cash for Jack Taylor and brought in another top top CM.

Matusiwa
Luis
Big Signing dynamic CM
Nunez
Humphreys

Still think really we need 2 more CM in. Then Humphreys doesn't get any game time outside of cups.

Think it has to be a champ loan.

O'Neil will be keeping him if he has any sense. Will come on no end by playing at a higher level.

Right now, I’d only put Florentino and Matusiwa ahead of him in the pecking order. He’s better than Taylor, and I’m increasingly convinced he’s better than Nuñez.

To be fair to Humphreys, when has he ever had a truly consistent run in the team in his favored position? I'm not saying he should have done, but its difficult to really know a players real capability until they do.

Its been great to have a town academy lad play. But if hes in our midfield this season our recruitment hasnt covered our midfield.

Hes ok. But lightweight. Safe and just floats really. I like him as a 10 or a more advamced cm but think hes suited to champ football.

not sure where this is coming from but better than Nunez or Taylor ? Hasnt shown that and didn’t get a sniff last season

He didn’t do much against Wycombe, game passed him by.

(Yes I know he got two tap ins).

Didn’t go tonight, assume he was decent?

He’s clearly got technique, just oddly slight, like how is he still so skinny?

I don’t think he’s actually skinny (hes way more sticky than e.g. Mendel or Philogene), he’s just short. He guards the ball so much better than Nuñez though (while probably lacking the magic - occasional - touch of the latter).

He’s just not going to be, is he? O’Neil admitted last night we still want ‘1 or 2 in there’, and I suspect that’s before any departures.

Like Baggott, time for him to go somewhere permanent and make a career for himself.

That's a bit daft. Nunez has done a lot more in the game to make statements like that. Completely different players really.

Nunez has fantastic feed and ability on the ball.

I really le Humphreys and would suggest he can get around the pitch better than Nunez. Nunez would be a too player if he had a bit more speed.

Speed isn’t his only flaw, he gives the ball away so, so much. He’s got bags of talent but he’s really thoughtless sometimes.

Some of the takes on here about him are ridiculously OTT. A nice tidy litte player and I wish him well, but calling him better than a Chile international who has played multiple games in the, championship is just not true.
If he is part of our squad this season then something has gone wrong with recruitment.
As Gary_Knows says,it's the Baggott situation again- time for him to go and carve out a career elsewhere and good luck to him.

He's more than capable of progressing to a PL player, we should keep him and develop into a PL, same as Brentford did when they won promotion to the PL with 80% of their championship squad

Admittedly he is of small structure but so is Phil Foden and Cole Palmer

Humphreys on 08:58 - Aug 5 with 866 viewsSmoresy

Would prove a peculiar blind spot of KM's if he is meaningfully involved. Why no room for him on the bench six months ago? Why no Championship loan? I'd gloss over that awkwardness happily for Cam to be playing and succeeding here, no doubt, I just struggle to believe that KM had such a bad read on his playing level.

A loan to the Charltons of the world feels the more logical next step if not a perm. Maybe we sell Taylor for healthy profit though and squad place 25 goes to a versatile 5th midfielder on low wages.

At this point i wouldn't be surprised to see him start against Sunderland. He's been the best midfielder in pre-season so far, and obviously we are short in that area. We don't know how fit the new CM is and we're still waiting on another.

I’d question if you’ve been watching either of them that closely in the last 6 months or so then.

Take away the “come on you tractor boys” novelty of Nunez, and half decent set pieces, what has he actually got?

Everywhere Cam has gone, the fans have raved about him. This pre-season, he’s been consistently the best player on the pitch. He absolutely ran the game last night, and it’s no coincidence that when O’Neil changed the whole team at half time, he still left him on, clearly intrigued by what he could do.

I’m not going to say McKenna got it wrong - Cam is still only 22, and for most of McKenna’s reign, he’s been an inexperienced youngster. But his loans have done him good and he’s come back a completely different beast.

I hope we loan him now, given how comfortable he has looked. I was more thinking it was time to move on permanently like Baggott before pre-season started.

He needs a full Championship season behind him, which could be where we are again next season.

A L1 loan to Premier League is too much of a leap.

He's not a completely different beast though, he's exactly the same, the difference has been we've no other midfielders to use.

Cam will go for a champ loan imo, and a deserved one.

Our best midfielder in pre-season means little when the only other first team midfielder who has been playing is Nunez, who played out of position for 95% of last season.

He may start whilst the new signings bed in and Matusiwa/Taylor recover, but I still think he'll leave by the end of the window.

He's versatile too and can cover a couple of positions so would be worth keeping him.
