💯!!

How anyone can level disrespect at Hirsty is beyond me.

It’s shocking how short memories are, League 1 and Championship promotion the first time was a key player. Did well in the prem until his injury, played a part last season.

If he goes I will miss him. Can’t see us getting £10m though

The only Muff in Town.

With the extra playoff spots I reckon there will be loads of deals that sound like big fees but in reality the selling club has whacked on a big promotion clause. If this is true then £4m in top ups?

I will miss him but he is just so slow with and without the ball. You see it with the through balls. It takes him so long to get the ball under control and ready for a shot.

£10m? I'll start the car!

Unless anyone from Stoke is reading this. In which case, no, far too low!

We wouldn't be where we are now without Hirst, is there a need to be an unlikeable pillock about it?

What does your alt log in Mr Town think?

Sometimes I giggle about the frothing lunatic who’s put me on ignore and has to constantly log out to see what I’ve said, because he’s a helpless egomaniac in denial….

And they'd be getting a bargain.

Top, top player.

I'd be keeping him.

Looked good in the PL when he got a chance.

EADT were claiming that Hirst would only be leaving on a perm with money now. No loan to buys so will be interesting to see if that happens.

SB

Based on that, it's most certainly going to be a loan to buy then

Assuming thats the total fee including add ones feels about market rate to me. Azon (who cant hit a cows arse with a banjo) is being quoted as being worth that sort of fee. Millwall paid 5 million last summer for Josh Coburn who scored less goals than Hirsty last season and Millwall wouldn’t sell him for that fee now.

Top top championship strikers are going for 15-20 million. The fee is not as ridiculous as some are making out imho

It's a great window to be selling players to the Championship. We could pocket a profit of virtually the whole transfer fee as he will be getting carried at close to zero on our balance sheet. Funds (from an FFP perspective) £50m worth of signings this summer on 5 year deals.

And as poor as Akpom was last season, he seems to have come back leaner. Looks better as striker too. He was never a 10 for us. He has more pedigree than Hirst - scored goals for Ajax in Europe. Could be the surprise package as a 3rd choice striker getting minutes this season.

We have to disregard the fee we paid for him when thinking of his value now, while realising that even then we got a bargain. Fees have gone absolutely bonkers over the last 3 years & £10m doesn't even raise an eyebrow for clubs now.
Anderson is a great footballer, but if you were told that he'd move for £115m, even last year, it would sound crazy. While at the other end, that Borehamwood are REJECTING a bid of £1m for one of their players, with no league experience.
The game has gone mad, but that's just the way it is at the moment.

Poll: If we go up, which new striker would you like us to sign?

You don't honestly believe this do you?

£10m for a player who was really really poor for a large % of the season last year.

That we got promotion with him as our main striker was an absolute miracle IMO

If you actually watched the games, you'd have noticed that despite loss of form and confidence last season, George still had a huge impact and without him we wouldn't have gone up. The fact he contributed like he did despite the video game brigade taking every opportunity to jeer showed his character.

He was always so much more than just a striker. Link up play criminally underrated in his time here and ran and ran.

Very, very good player.

Everyone moaned about him before he scored away at Bolton as we kick started the run to promotion in 23. They were wrong then and they are wrong now.

Great servant to the club.

His link up play was what made him popular to begin with, that aspect of his game was missing last season. That's not video game brigade that's just a non bias view of him compared to his previous seasons

10 mill is a great price, I do think it's overpriced, i think it'll be £5 mill with top ups.

Hirst has been a good player for us, and i'd be fine with him being 3rd choice.

But if you're offered 10m, you take it.

Yeah if only I'd been at 39 of the 46 league games we played last season I might have the right to have an opinion. Silly me.

His touched was poor, link up play non existent at times because of this, wasted so many amazing chances to score. Running and running is NOT the bench mark for a "very very good player" its the absolute minimum required.

He absolutely upped his game in the final month or so, but he was miles off the GH we had in L1 and that first Champ season.

£10m would be an unbelievable fee for a player that really isn't worth any more than £4/5m.

Wouldn't surprise me if that's the base fee with top ups taking it to 10m - goals, appearances, promotion, etc.

A player that found it difficult in the Championship isn't going to rip up the Premier League. I'd possibly push for another couple of million as we will need to break our transfer record to get a top striker in unless GON is looking at someone who would do a job for a couple of seasons.

I’m with JD about his importance to the squad, but you’re right imho to say he was disappointing last season.

But what does 10 million buy nowadays?

Akpom is looking an option for that 3rd choice and Hirst might actually want to play games.

10m would be a very good fee.
