| wow, just wow....... on 21:47 - Aug 6 with 1201 views | PioneerBlue | First and foremost weve got to build a team that loves defending because we will be doing a lot of it. If they can create some chances and we have a few players willing to attack rather than get knocked about in the final third weve got a chance | |

| wow, just wow....... on 20:12 - Aug 6 by WolfieAtTheBack | Furlong coming up against Doku, Gakpo etc That's not going to work I am afraid. |
He would only have to play against them for 15 or so minutes. Before they draw his third foul and Second booking.
| wow, just wow....... on 08:04 - Aug 7 with 905 views | LegendofthePhoenix | gave you an uppie, because this isn't the finished team, but it's great progress. Think we will add an experienced CF, and when we play 4231 as we will sometimes, have Enciso as the 10. Also see a more attacking RWB joining, and hopefully a £30M creative midfielder. | |

| wow, just wow....... on 19:03 - Aug 6 by ringwoodblue | Surprised there’s no place for Matusiwa in that lineup. Still think we need more of a creative player in CM and a proven goalscorer up front. Also questioning if Furlong and Davis are good enough at RB/LB. |
I think many will be in for a shock - I think everyone fit and firing, Matusiwa is on the bench as it stands. Lukic won't have come to trade Fulham's bench for ours and we've spent the best part of £20m on Florentino so you presume the club think he's an upgrade. I have always had my reservations about Matusiwa on the ball if we returned to the PL and wonder if the new manager does too.

| wow, just wow....... on 19:42 - Aug 6 by londonblue791 | I'm sorry but we have to expect something from Emersonn. SWE came from his home country and is adapting while Emersonn has been around Turkey and France. He should be fired up |
He also has 8 goals and 2 assists in his entire senior career. It would be some developmental leap if he suddenly banged 10 PL goals.
| wow, just wow....... on 08:39 - Aug 7 with 825 views | Wallingford_Boy | Christ I hope not!! Emersonn won't be starting. Furlong won't be starting (providing we sign a new RB of course). We won't play a back 5. Both Lukic and Florentino won't start (one or other). | |

Im expecting alot as we just spent 26 mil on him. Theres no excuses to spend that much and not see a good player straight off.

Wow, you are going to be very disappointed my friend! I am sure he will come good, but he needs time to adapt, he's a young boy. I think we will sign a 1st choice 9 soon and he/Akpom will be back up.

Hugely disingenuous when 7 came last season playing in the top flight of a top 5 European league. His trajectory fits, yes it's absolutely unproven at this level, but he's gone from Brazil top flight to Turkish top flight to French top flight to premier League. Not saying he'll get 10+ goals by the way, or be absolutely relied on, but I think he's here to give it a crack and is on the right level of career path to have a decent chance. He's not come as some rookie who will play 5 minutes here and there. It'll be him and another battling, plus Maeda and hopefully enciso as extra options.
| wow, just wow....... on 10:07 - Aug 7 with 668 views | pointofblue | Whilst the OP's set up is too defensive, I have been far more impressed with this summer's dealings than two years ago. Yes, we have gaps to fill, but it exposed our issues in 2024/25. The calls for those who got us up to play were at least partially down to sentimentality, yes, but they were also rooted in the majority of incoming players barely being an upgrade on who we had on our books already. Certainly not to the level required. Compare to this season where we're bringing in more players with top level experience and quality. | |

He could be, that's the point. How many of these amazing buys for Bournemouth, sunderland, Brentford etc etc that we salivate over have perfect fully formed careers before being signed? That's kind of the point, leave it too long and they're snaffled up, you need to get ahead of the pack and risk it, potentially risking millions in the process.

I wouldn't be too happy if Azor started!! Zero pre-season minutes, so unlikely to walk straight into the XI (I am guessing he may not start anyway, even when fit).

The difference is they tend to send them Out on loan for two years because they have such depth. Trickier when you have to rely on him to score immediately.

Delap only had 12 goals in three seasons before he came to us, and none of those were in the top flight. Then he banged in 12 in a single season. Not saying Emerson's going to be the new Delap but it's hardly unthinkable that he could be a 10 goal a season guy, is it?

Bournemouth? Sunderland? Brentford? Most of them are in and around the team aren't they? They don't spend tens of millions on prospects do they? Maybe slightly less pressure in the first millisecond for them, but broadly similar I'd have said. Their young players they spend millions on mix it in the first time pretty quick.

One related benefit if Emersonn takes most of a season to adjust is that it will take some of the pressure off Egeli for being the overpriced youngster who hasn't fulfilled his promise. I think the negativity really hindered his progress last season.

I love the finding of the positive in us having two under performing multi million pound players 🙂.

I love the fact that we are in a position to have 'under performing' multi million pound players on any level, let alone in the best league in the world. One who hasn't even played for us yet in any real sense and one who still scored 4 and got a couple of assists in 28 games. Definitely underperforming though?! Huh?
