I was assuming the fanzone wouldn’t be ready far Saturday as so much plant on the tired astro, and surfacing works required - I assume this is still the case as it looks like a building site???
(Note - I am assuming they have to lay an entirely new surface for the fanzone given the changes in boundaries and state of it)
No announcements as yet on fanzone opening ahead of Saturday.
But surely the new concourse building with turnstiles and the thoroughfare directly running beside it must be near complete with effectively with two days to go?! If not how can the West Stand open.

This was yesterday, no way it'll be finished. I expect a lot of fencing off and making areas safe so people can enter the stand and nothing else.
Weirdly Phil just posted a story about Marcus Stewart in the fanzone Saturday - but that is currently a mess
It’s been well commented that it’s not going to be complete for the game on Saturday, it’s going to be complete for the Liverpool game apparently - even if it’s not then there’s no home game until 10th October after that.
For Saturday and Tuesday it will be ‘operational’ for entry and egress.
Regards the fanzone then there’s stuff planned and looks as if it’s going to be open, they only need to remove all the vans and give it a sweep and it’ll be fine.
You think you're mad, too UNSTABLE Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables In a fanzone in a Suf folk town Call the police, there's a mad man around Running down underground To a fanzone in a Suf folk town

A link or news story stating the concourse isn’t fully open Saturday and its access/ingress only for Sunderland
Cheltenham shared an article that confirms fanzone does plan to be open as per your other comment
Still can’t see how the surface of the fanzone will be ready. But what do I know.
I've heard from someone within the club about this, and they said it's only going to be for access until after the international break for the Fulham game
I suppose one advantage of its not being open, on a day when there are likely to be long queues, is that those trying to get to the North Stand or West Stand won't have to battle against those leaving the fanzone for stands other than the West Stand.
It should be fine, I'm told they got lucky. A pickup stopped there this morning and the driver got out and told the builders they have a load of tarmac left over from some work they're doing near the A14. They coming back this afternoon to lay a 5cm deep tarmac temp cover for Sat's game. Although given we're still 3 days away from Sat don't trip over any weeds coming up through the tarmac in the Fan Zone.
