Utter, utter woke nonsense…. 11:36 - Aug 20 with 4476 viewsBloots

….Wolves are gonna stop playing The Liquidator pre-match from now.

It’s offensive to WBA fans.

Where does this all stop?

Modern football is rubbish.

The problem isn't that the song is offensive, it's that it is regularly accompanied with explicit hostile chants directed at WBA.
I personally abhor the juvenile playground name-calling directed at local rivals e.g. "die, Delia die".

Don't they just shout 'fk off West Brom' during it?

….scenario though.

Singing about an old woman dying is not the same as singing “F off West Brom”.

This is the thin end of the wedge.

What an embarrassing post. Pulled in the early 2000s, and you are using it to push an anti "woke" agenda.

Grow up, and stop posting political propaganda in the football section.

Oh yes they did.

I’m assuming that these Wolves fans know their stuff - it’s dated 2012 so before it become fashionable to call everything which some dislike as woke.

By all accounts there were calls to ban the song in 2002.

Is there more to this song that I'm missing? Its been a staple at Wolves, West Brom, Chelsea for years. What's offensive about it?

Looks like we have diverging accounts of if this has stopped and when. Help me Bloots - where have you seen that it;s only now being stopped?

….I was wrong, although there has obviously been requests to bring it back hence the announcement today.

As others noted it’s sung pre-match at other grounds, with the same response.

My point of where does it stop remains.

Apparently as it is instumental, thousands of people would be shouting F West Brom. This was an issue for broadcasts, which led to complaints to and from West Midlands Police and West Brom.

So more about broadcasting santitation.

Right. I would understand it if the actual song contained such lyrics, but I can't help but think if fans want to shout / sing anti West Brom songs they're probably going to find a way to do it anyway.

Seems a little ridiculous to me given there's nothing offensive about the actual song in question.

No, your point was to push culture wars propganda with a "Utter, utter woke nonsense" header.

I don't believe this song meets the threashold for banning.

Doesn’t really remain. The ‘where will it end’ argument is what someone like Richard Littlejohn uses when he gets angry about something.

Their fans think it’s hilarious that they play it and sing “F off The Wolves” while Wolves themselves have announced they won’t be reintroducing it.
