At least we were at home against Liverpool last time around. We played pretty well and caused them some issues at least in the first 60 minutes or so. Losing 0-2 and the confidence didn't take a hit, in fact I think the feeling at the time was we could be competitive going forward.

Be interesting to see how Coventry get on tomorrow, a thrashing could be a reality check, a narrow loss a confidence builder maybe. As potential rivals I hope they get tonked, as a recently promoted team I hope they can be relatively competitive.

Hope Coventry get the reality check they deserve tomorrow night. 4-0 to the Arse I reckon

But you don’t get relegated for losing to Arsenal.

If it’s less than a 4-0 tonking I’ll be disappointed

Bruno will want to impress the home fans

Do you remember how good Tonali and Guimaraes were at Portman Road? - battered us!!

I’d really hope Florentino/Matusiwa and Lukic wouldn’t allow that to happen.

I am thinking 3-0 likely. As you say, it isn't losing against the top sides that makes the difference.

That said, if they were to get a point or a win there it would be massive and all the pundits would be raving about how great big Frank and his team are.

I was going to predict a 3-0 but 4 or more would be welcome. No, losing against Arsenal isn't going to define their season but it could be a check on expectations depending on the result.

Games against any team expected to be in the CL conversation won't define their, or our season. Even a respectable 0-2 defeat won't hurt them in terms of morale.

Although it is imperative we finish above Cov and Hull (if we don't, we are toast anyway), them picking up results against the lower-middling teams is likely to be helpful to us as well, rather than sitting on 7 or 8 points at Christmas. All three of us having our own little bun fight for 18th is not going to help drag one or two other clubs down. There needs to be some chaos involved to pull that third team we need to leapfrog into the mix.

Agree on the whole, but in a way that Liverpool game did sort of define our season. Didn't decide it obviously, but it showed us what was to come.

Lots of effort, some good football and excitement, but ultimately not good enough.

This time it'll be different.

If Cov don't win, it's going to make it harder for us to catch Aresenal in the race for the title.

Seems bad blood between us an Coventry fans but I'd like to see them get a draw against the Arse.

Us to beat Sunderland and Hull to get a least a draw against Manure.

Be one in the eye for all the pundits that have the promoted teams straight back down.

Realistically it is a thumping for Coventry and Hull and a nice win for us :)

Hoping that Coventry get a real bashing. Their arrogant fans need a real wake up call

Nothing personal against Cov or Hull but as our likely rivals I'd like both to get pasted week in, week out. That said in an ideal world I'd love all 3 promoted sides to stay up but can't see that happening. I think Coventry will actually do OK tonight and get out with a 2-0 defeat. Equally I can see Hull losing 1-0 to Man Utd. For us I think it depends on what Sunderland team turns up we have by far the most winnable fixture we need at least to get a creditable draw although a win would be absolutely monstrous given our start last time around.

Ultimately, we need to better them plus one other, a win tomorrow could be huge as many people think Sunderland will struggle. A poor start to the season for them could accelerate this.

Purely because they're going to be a rival we must finish above, hopefully a real demoralising hammering which they never recover from. Also sack the manager 5 games in, so we don't have to hear 'Frank Lampard's Coventry' for the rest of the season.

They'll probably be viewing today as a bit of an extended pre season, with the real work starting next week when they host Hull.

To stay up we need to finish above someone else, so ideally we need Coventry and Hull to be competitive and take points off others in the bottom half. Just not enough to be ahead of us.

Well Phillips and Cajuste limited Arsenal to 1 goal at the Emirates.

I’m torn on it. I’d normally root for Coventry as the underdog, but given they’re a potential relegation rival I’m going to have to be boring, boring Arsenal for this one. Reluctantly though. I’m not a huge fan of their anti-entertainment football.

That's the spirit.

Would love all three promoted teams to do well as usually cheer on the underdog, however the self preservation of Ipswich is at stake plus sporting index gave me a free bet of £3.50 for every goal above 2.5 on Arsenal over Cov.

Thought I knew the all the things I wouldn’t like about the prem last time around but wanting underdogs to lose wasn’t on the list, felt dirty.

And perhaps we might win against Coventry & Hull this season, after picking up 2 points out of 12 from games with Leicester & Southampton 2 seasons ago.
