Has the club had any formal questioning on the queues and digital tickets, and how it's all being managed (or not managed)?
All I see is people, myself included, moaning about it but I haven't seen a mention of it being raised in any official capacity, if that's even possible.
It was shocking the other night getting into the North Stand, both tiers but particularly upper). Not even just the wait, although that was bad, but the lack of any organization in terms of managing the direction of queues. It was a mess.
The delays themselves seems to me a mixture of the security checks and people not getting themselves through the turnstiles quick enough, presumably because they can't master the digital wallet/ticket situation. Don't know if anyone sees it any differently. |  |

You’re spot on about the need for barriers. It’s difficult to work out where the end of the queue is sometimes and there will always be people who use that to their advantage and basically merge in with the queues which causes even more chaos |  |

Queue was flowing quite nicely for me and then someone had a problem with the NFC on their phone and it stopped for 2-3 minutes while they sorted it. I think once the majority of regular attendees are comfortable with the technology it will work as quickly as it has before.
Do think that in some areas they could do with an airport style 'snake' queue where when you get to the front of that you then go to the next available turnstile. For SBR Upper you just end up with multiple queues for the individual turnstiles. | |

Its would then create the space to do so for all the other turnstiles.

Agree on all your points.
I was going into SBRU as well on Friday and thought the same thing. If the queues were formed up parallel with the stand then you wouldn't get the ridiculous amount of congestion that there was. The queue to the last turnstile, where I was, was queuing up like this but people seemed to be oblivious to this concept and kept pushing in and blocking off the road so it became very difficult for people to get passed the massive blockage that had formed. Some education is needed to be applied on this.
Also the NFC is very temperamental if you have an android phone. You have to get it in the exact correct position and make sure your phone is facing with the screen towards you. The gatekeeper had to call the supervisor to assist my wife as the terminal at the gate refused to give her a 'tick' although it had shown on her phone. Technology is great...but only when it works! If only they could come up with a plastic card that could let you in... |  |

I sit in West and was absolutely fine on Friday - went in around 7:20pm and no queues, straight in. Similarly for the Leicester game
Maybe its because lots of people turn up quite late so it floods the turnstiles? |
There must have been a sudden influx of people then as I got in the queue for the West stand at 7:25 and wasn't through until gone 7:45, and there were people queued all the way back to the entrance near those temporary toilets, I imagine they wouldn't all have made it in time for kick-off. They opened the hospitality gates to everyone in the end and that seemed to speed things up.
It must be costing the club a fair amount each game at the moment, I was planning to grab a drink in the fanzone quickly but didn't when I saw the queues were already building up. I thought I would then be able to get one in the ground but by the time I got through I just went straight to my seat. | | | |

There seem to be more staff around from previous years, but not always to the best effect. I can see that organisation and large-scale training won't take place given the desire to keep costs and wages at a minimum, and that it's hard to imagine the constraints of a large crowd until you're actually in it - but still, it could all go better. The Sunderland game was high farce, what with random pleasant people checking the tickets before you got near a turnstile, which, in turn, produced a lot of anger around me later on when it became clear we were going to miss kick off.
But the big problem that seems to me to need addressing is the jam-packed human mass in the road outside Sir Bob. Some are queuing to get into the stand, some are passing through to get to the Cobbold, and some are going the opposite way to get to the West. It's not really anywhere near being controlled or safe, and an emergency would throw that into stark relief. |

- one lane for those coming from the pioneer side trying to get to the cobbold side
- one lane for those going from the cobbold side to the pioneer side.
- a dead zone for those getting to....

What does make me laugh though is for all the technology in the world, they still need the person in the turnstile to press the foot thing to let you through, after you’ve scanned your ticket.

Sunderland took 45 mins to get into West Stand, so got to seat as teams were coming out. Part of the problem was that the queue into the West through the new gate effectively blocked the road behind the North so difficult to access the other (quieter) entrances to the West Stand.
Leicester and Liverpool perfectly fine - took ten mins to be scanned and then get into concourse.
Seems like early teething problems - fans mainly not being ready for new technology, albeit club could have done better at managing queues outside the ground.
Why is this being done? "Security". It is now much harder to pass on tickets to other fans, who may/may not be eligible to purchase them via the priority systems now in place. Club has greater confidence that the tickets remain in the correct hands, while the resale back to the club option reduces ticket touting. [Post edited 7 Sep 15:09]

We reckon that those scanning people as they come in often have their equipment switched off.
Sometimes they pick up keys, sometimes not.
Sometimes pick up coins most times not.
I agree with the poster who said only look at some. Say 10%. But look at them closely.

Complete lack of communication to those pesky supporter plebs ( they are such a nuisance) from Mark Ashton and the top management, maybe they haven’t been told or seen the queuing and ticket problems or the hour plus telephone wait for the ticket office sometimes maybe it would be a good idea to leave the hob nobbing in the boardroom and see first hand but it doesn’t matter as they will be sitting down with no problems at kick off.

Someone posted the Premier League requirements on here a week or two ago. They explicitly ruled out static QR codes but allowed the dynamic versions. However, you can't print out a dynamic QR code (well you can but it's then static and won't work). | | | |
