| Turnstile queues 23:30 - Sep 6 with 2993 views | Garv | Has the club had any formal questioning on the queues and digital tickets, and how it's all being managed (or not managed)? All I see is people, myself included, moaning about it but I haven't seen a mention of it being raised in any official capacity, if that's even possible. It was shocking the other night getting into the North Stand, both tiers but particularly upper). Not even just the wait, although that was bad, but the lack of any organization in terms of managing the direction of queues. It was a mess. The delays themselves seems to me a mixture of the security checks and people not getting themselves through the turnstiles quick enough, presumably because they can't master the digital wallet/ticket situation. Don't know if anyone sees it any differently. | |

| Turnstile queues on 23:34 - Sep 6 with 2238 views | SitfcB | They sent out a questionnaire after the Sunderland game but can’t remember if there were any questions on entry/ticket etc. It was fine getting in when we went in, at around 19:10. Although the bloke in front was struggling with his ticket as he was trying to get the screen to scan | |

Seemed pretty efficient to me, more convenient, and the new system seems beholden to technology. The delays I experienced were where people’s phones were not registering on the machine. It seems another thing of technology for the sake of it, people had just got used to the scanning and eased the queues, only to create chaos again. #LoadofShite

| Turnstile queues on 08:15 - Sep 7 with 1799 views | football | I sit in West and was absolutely fine on Friday - went in around 7:20pm and no queues, straight in. Similarly for the Leicester game Maybe its because lots of people turn up quite late so it floods the turnstiles? | | | |
| Turnstile queues on 08:18 - Sep 7 with 1773 views | football | Mastering the digital tickets isn't that difficult if you are prepared. Make sure it it downloaded and open before you scan your phone at the turnstile. If it is user error this is not the fault of the club and there is nothing they can do | | | |

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but the queues at the Sunderland game were ridiculously long at 2pm, We've always had this last minute rush which has been ok over the years, but with the added security taking an age it has caused bottlenecks. Having said that, think people are wising up as Friday was fine, and the people around me who normally get to their seats at 2.58 on a Saturday, were all sat down at 7.30, so clearly people aren't taking risks with the late bum rush.

Surely ST only turnstiles without all the wand waving would help... maybe a experienced steward with a wand could do random checks , lets be honest theres more security on the door it seems than when 1 guy sat in his box scanning tickets... its really frustrating! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It’s a tricky one. It sounds as though it shouldn’t be needed, but what happens if someone has by forgotten to leave their rocket-propelled grenade launcher back home after a morning cosplaying soldier? It could happen to any of us. (Agreed - it seems like serious overkill).

I mean, it's not like they use it to accurately give the attendance figures

As expressed in the other thread, my experience was similar to yours, albeit 40 mins earlier. It was fine for me, but clearly not for everyone. I’d be very interested to know what actions the club have taken, beyond what we’ve seen, and what they propose to do. We are talking about organising a queue, albeit in limited space, and communicating with people. The wand wavers I presume are hired in just for the security element? Maybe rope in more ITFC staff that work at the club to help with organising and to actually talk to people? I’m thinking here of the London Olympics where the ‘games makers’ who were about in their 100s made a real difference in reassuring and helping well over 200,000 people get in and out on the Friday I went. I guess this is a long winded way of saying that aside from the physical organisation and infrastructure, the club could and should improve its comms on this on the day, before and after in my view.

Wasnt that on Friday. I was in the queue for Upper North at 7.10 and got to my seat as the players were coming out.

Really - the West stand? Got there just after 7pm - at least two turnstiles were not operational. Got passed the wand wavers no problem - finally got to our seats just before 7.45pm. [Post edited 7 Sep 9:16]

| Turnstile queues on 09:15 - Sep 7 with 1535 views | Basuco | Cobbold lower was awful on Friday as well, then at around 7:30 an exit door was opened and hand held scanners were used with no bag or security check's. Most phones were very quick being scanned, quicker than the season ticket card last season, so that part is generally working well. I have a Samsung A32 so not very new or fancy but NFC works well. Evening games are always slow getting in as many more fans arrive nearer to kick off due to work/family commitments than on a Saturday, when many just get up and go to the game. | | | |

As I understand it, QR codes need a network / internet signal, NFC once downloaded to wallet does not, my Fulham ticket was quickly added to my wallet. So it is more reliable. Or for the conspiracy minded, QR codes can be easily copied and passed to others and NFC less so, this is a Premier League requirement not ITFC, allowing big club to sell higher priced tickets to tourist fans.
| Turnstile queues on 09:39 - Sep 7 with 1430 views | monty_radio | There seem to be more staff around from previous years, but not always to the best effect. I can see that organisation and large-scale training won't take place given the desire to keep costs and wages at a minimum, and that it's hard to imagine the constraints of a large crowd until you're actually in it - but still, it could all go better. The Sunderland game was high farce, what with random pleasant people checking the tickets before you got near a turnstile, which, in turn, produced a lot of anger around me later on when it became clear we were going to miss kick off. But the big problem that seems to me to need addressing is the jam-packed human mass in the road outside Sir Bob. Some are queuing to get into the stand, some are passing through to get to the Cobbold, and some are going the opposite way to get to the West. It's not really anywhere near being controlled or safe, and an emergency would throw that into stark relief. | |

| Turnstile queues on 09:43 - Sep 7 with 1421 views | PioneerBlue | Experience Liverpool versus Sunderland was night and day, literally and figuratively! Gone was the long queue for the queue to get into the fanzone for the pioneer new turnstile across the park. Time to seat Sland arrived 2pm, seat 2.50pm Lpool arrived 7.30pm, seat 7.50pm It has got better but there is a queue inside the fanzone now for each pioneer turnstile the likes of which never existed before. I wonder whether they will ever be able to reduce the queue time down, entry is simply slower, people dont move through the new e-turnstiles as fast as they do compared to the QR entry system. It is going to be fun when it rains standing queuing for 20 mins or in winter for those with young children or our older fans. I dont know about around the ground but certainly the role of the stewards has to really change, they are really in to crowd management more so than before, they need to communicate with large groups of people to ease the speedy route in to ground. Money will be lost for people that just cant get in to buy a drink and food. ITFC has a significant number of fans thet travel from outside ipswich and being their an hour before kick off isnt realistic. [Post edited 7 Sep 13:33]

But QR codes were able to be printed out. For older, less tech savvy people that was definitely easier. Sounds like it was out of the club’s control though.

Worryingly you could quite easily take one of those in!! The wand scanning is an absolute joke in most cases, beeping away and they just let you in anyway. Or they would say “is that keys?”, to which “yes” is fine without any check. Absolute waste of time and money!
| Turnstile queues on 09:53 - Sep 7 with 1352 views | dirtyboy | We were in North upper and queued from about 7:30 and got in at 7:55. Did feel like a number of people behind me were going to miss the game but was surprised how full the ground was when I got in given the queues outside. Some turnstiles (for lower) were practically empty, seems ridiculous that they wouldn't open the lower concourse with 15 mins to go. I get that they don't like 'thousands' in the lower concourse before games, but when there's free turnstiles and people are trying to get to their seats quickly it's not an issue at that point. Just needs a degree of common sense applied. Thank goodness it was an 8pm KO. That said, the 1hr 20min journey to do 40 miles on the A12 is another kick in the a*se for us coming from the North and the train is even slower lol! Love our feckless transport system. | | | |

Agree, but increasingly the less tech savvy are being ignored in many area's of life, they do not make up a significant enough percentage to impact income of a business, the Premier League is and always has been driven by big club greed. So while they are happy to pay £100 million for a player, £20 -£ 40million a season in wages to that player, another few million to the agent to make the deal happen, but do not want to lose a few pounds from fans passing a tickets on. We Ipswich Town are just caught up in all this.
| Turnstile queues on 10:33 - Sep 7 with 1138 views | The_Flashing_Smile | My experience was not the same as yours. I arrived at North Lower about 20 mins before kick off and it took 10 mins to get in. One thing that strikes me is the amount of people who go for the queues nearest to the club shop, which are the longest, rather than moving down a bit to the shorter ones. | |

I've found that people join the end queues because it seems near on impossible to get through to the others. The club NEED to put some barriers in place, because its an accident waiting to happen IMO
