If last night proved anything about this, it is that they got it completely wrong with the £30 pricing. The result was an estimated 2000-2500 away fans in home sections, as well as the 3000 away allocation.
Those home fans who did get tickets will go away having experienced one of the worst atmospheres in recent seasons.

Totally agree.
Disregarding the match itself it was probably the worst game at PR I have ever been to.
Arrived at SBR lower turnstiles at 19:45 and didn't get in until ten minutes after kick off.
Then found I was completely surrounded by tourists and day trippers. Closest I have ever been to just walking out and going home. |  | | |

The club maximised revenue so didn't get it wrong on that basis. If there were less tourists and Arsenal fans we could have made it a much more intimidating atmosphere and possible rattle them a bit. We basically let them come in and lord it over us for the night which was a but of a humbling experience. At least we should at least make them earn any points in the league fixture! |  | | |

Many of us regulars didn't go, and won't go to cup games on principle. I think all but 1 of our group stayed home for this one, and Leicester. Just a waste of time going to Ipswich in the cup.
It's been this way since the McCarthy end of the Evans days, but we treat cup fixtures like reserve games, the club has no interest in them at all, if they charged a cheaper rate for the game, and offered it to our supporters, i'd have less issue, but they put a premium price on what they knew they were going to treat as a reserve fixture they couldn't care less about.
Of course the people will say "they have to make money" but due to media rights and the league we are in now, as proven by Brentford and Bournemouth, you don't need an actual crowd or fanbase to make money anymore, we could afford to be more generous but we opted to cash in, and thats the result is the home tickets were bought by people wanting to see Arsenal as an experience, because most of us Town regulars knew the drill and it wasn't worth the time/money to turn out, we won't do for the FA Cup either, save your money and stay home. |  |

Maybe it would have been a good idea to have a members price even if it was £30 but non members pay £43 as for a similar rated league game... one proviso... and Arsenal fans found in a members seat and thats membership and any waiting list number revoked? ... maybe some Arsenal fans might have bought membership but thats a total of £70ish for a ticket so win/win there! |  | | |

There was clearly a little group in the Sir Alf stand where they knew they would be close to the away fans. They hid their shirts until they knew they had definitely won and with about 10 minutes left, one-by-one removed their outer coverings to reveal an Arsenal top. They then made sure they drew enough attention to get kicked out and got the biggest cheer the away fans gave all night. How sad!
The most amusing thing was that as they did it, we started scoring! It would have been even more amusing had we got it back to 4-4 and they had missed the penalty shoot-out.
It sounds like there were pockets of others around the ground but I saw no evidence of any in the north stand and I can't imagine any were in the Blue Action area either. Those that were "hard" enough to make a spectacle of themselves did so in the south stand knowing they were absolutely safe from anyone who would have taken enough offence to deal with them themselves. How that is worth such a loud cheer from their day-trippers who knows but little things please little minds.
I would expect there were probably somewhere between 12 and 100 in with the home fans. Many of those were probably with Ipswich fans and would have generally behaved themselves. I have no problem with that. Any of those who made a spectacle and had home fans accidentally spill a drink, food, etc all over their tops, hair, etc that they were so proud of got what they deserved I would imagine. |  |

Some of what you say is probably true. It's obvious because of plans in the pipeline that the powers that be at PR believes it's possible to get crowds of 40,000. But due to the current situation many like myself and apparently several thousand others can only get to see Town on tv. Therefore the only chance are games like these where ST holders aren't interested and so there's a huge amount of seats available.
Price wise I paid £32 to watch a cup game in the upper tier SBR stand many years ago so maybe £30 now isn't extortionate. | | | |

What a very odd spin on it - ok, maybe not so much from you.
Away fans in the home section - yeah, saw a few, but certainly not thousands. Would be fascinating to see that number was arrived at.
Day trippers? Or maybe people who haven’t been able to get tickets and/or one with a decent view for most home games finally get a chance to see the game; either at all, or in a seat that has a good view.
An alternative view of this is that with so many season ticket holders passing on the game, it shows the demand is there way beyond 30,000. Last night was a cup game that we were expected to lose, on a Tuesday evening with the game live on Sky, and yet it was close to sold out. That bodes well for attendances at matches that really mean something and at more accessible times. | | | |
