We win that with scherpen 16:58 - Sep 19 with 7699 viewsFrimleyBlue

So many flaps from walton. Many crosses not come for. And when he did he punched it 5 yards outside the box. Loads of kicks straight to pickford.

We are solid outfit but youve got to stick with the keeper who can actually deal witb balls in the air.

Oh well 3 week break now.

Leave it out mate. I would have preferred to stick with Scherpen too, but Walton did absolutely fine today and had zero point zero chance with the goal.

Erm.... The only legal goal they scored was an incredibly chested deflection of a shot on target going in the opposite direction. I'm not sure how you think Scherpen claiming crosses in his own box would have helped us win that. Strange take.

Don't get me wrong, Scherpen is my first choice, but I think you're being pretty harsh on Walton here.

Because scherpen would have absolutely smashed that cross away from our area.

Out of interest, how do we win by scoring zero?

It's amazing, it's almost that whichever goalkeeper that starts is to blame for us conceding easily, not defending well, not bossing the midfield and not being able to score.

It's nonsense, we're still a Championship side with a few decent players in the mix, and a weak bench, we're going to lose more than we win this season, especially against better sides than us like Everton.

17th will be a huge achievement with this squad, and if we drop, it won't be on the keepers, like it wasn't last time.

He didnt at all

Lost the ball early on.
Then passed us into trouble
Flapped at the ball for the goal
Played 1-2s with pickford
Then spent all game admiring crosses go over the 6 yard box

WTF is wrong with you?
Walton barely put a foot or glove wrong. We lost 1-0 to a goal massively deflected the opposite way to where he was going.
Unless you're putting Scherpen up front, how on earth do you work out that we win that with him in goal?
And how on earth can you blame Walton for the defeat? Or had you made your mind up on the scapegoat before the start?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The best team in England, Arsenal, have two short keepers ~6ft. Good feet, how do they manage at set pieces without an extra 5 - 10 inches? It's not all about height. Walton has never had a problem with crosses/set pieces, and didn't today.

I don't really understand why we ever tried to replace Walton after last season. He was among the best keepers in the Champ.

Today was the first Prem game since first of the season with no question of GK error.

The argument appears to be Scherpen would have cleared the ball better in the build up to their goal, rather than it falling to Tarkowski. Maybe that would have been the case, maybe not. But, as someone who wouldn't have switched keepers yet, we can't say what would have happened if Scherpen had played. He hasn't been great up to now.

He's reverted to the mean and is turboposting again which is a real shame as he had made progress.

Next it'll be "using the forum as intended" and we'll know the reversion is complete.

Oh dear Frimmers. I've found myself starting to upvote some of your posts since you were reborn into a more constructive and sensible poster but this is a retrograde step for you. Walton made one error when he was closed down early on. Other than that, he was absolutely fine. His punch for the goal was fine and the goal, whilst deliberate, had a big slice of luck.
I would not have dropped Scherpen myself but Walton will now keep the shirt for the next game.

We conceded a goal just like i said before the game. It came from walton flapping from a cross.

Made my mind up before the game. Yes because walton is not a no.1 prem keeper as he showed with his inabilitt to take the ball from the air when it comes over his own six yard box. Go back and look at some of the headers everton missed. Hes nowhere near them.

His inability to claim crosses and his constant kicks to pickford reduced our time on the ball and ability to stretch everton even more than we did.

But just because walton didnt pass the ball into his own net hes seen as barely putting a foot wrong.

Anyways of out now. Ill leave you to discuss his amazing attributes.

Up voted by accident, I agree with others I wouldn’t have dropped Scherpen but Walton didn’t put a foot wrong.

I think when Scherpen is back in the team though he should also be given the freedom to not play it out from the back like Walton was today. Can’t remember many times today when he didn’t go long

"Walton made one error when he was closed down early on" - that wasn't an error. Was a goal-kick and Everton player was standing inside the box. Correctly called as freekick for us. Sure you can be caught in possession when the oppo cheats!

Walton was injured at the start of the season. Who knows maybe the intention was for him to be number one all along and Scherpen as the backup. We won’t know till after the international break.
