If the death penalty is out if bounds to have a discussion about, then Surely Palestine, Farage, Trump should also go…. Because these subjects always turn nasty.

I have just read this and can’t believe Sitters has been banned.
I have known him since he was a teenager and never seen him post anything controversial. I don’t know what happened yesterday but we need him back.
Who is going to put the team up now? I always log on here to see his posts. Also his info on tickets etc.

There is a big problem with TWTD at the moment. I’m on the opposite side of the argument with sitters when it comes to the death penalty or immigration, but he’s entitled to his view and should be allowed to express it. But every time he starts a thread posing a question, he is jumped on by a certain element who complain he is trolling or trying to start an argument.
I don’t see any difference between sitters thread and the one on Hampshire. Both discussing topical issues reported by the media.
A certain element trying to not only police what is posted, but what side of the argument each poster should be on. [Post edited 24 Sep 8:28]

He drops a controversial news story, leaves an inflammatory comment which triggers up and down votes, and then doesn't engage. There's an argument that he's deliberately adding to the disagreement on here - it doesn't help anyone. The capital punishment one ironically was him engaging, but usually he doesn't.

There is a human part in this though which should bring some responsibility. I don’t know Phil and co personally (but feel like I do), but you and loads on here do I’m sure and hold him in high regard.
When posting certain topics, there are plenty of us who know the eventual outcome before there’s even a first reply, and know we’ve given Phil another headache. And more stress than I’m sure we appreciate.
That’s not an argument for banning Sitters or not, but I think people could make better decisions for the forum which we all love? | |

The crazy thing about the whole incident was that the “usual suspects” (I can use that phrase because it’s already been used this morning, so assume it’s fine - we’ll see) jumped on him straight away claiming he doesn’t engage and then when he did they piled onto him anyway.
And then he got banned.

FWIW Sitters is a good poster, a long standing member of the forum and its a shame he's been banned. He did strike me as someone who knew what he was doing a lot of the time though, some of his posts were deliberately provocative and he was happy to light the touchpaper and stand back. He was pretty intentional in a lot of that, despite his claims otherwise, which don't really wash.
Not saying any of that is enough for a ban though. Its quite embarrassing that people can't just discuss something without getting too personal or weird about it. Its not really fair on Phil to have to spend his evening policing a group of tw@ts. |  | | |

I don't know whether you consider me one of the "usual suspects", but I called Sitters out on that thread. Past couple of days alone started the Xhaka COVID and Israel v Ireland threads where his only contribution was the OP, so felt a third strike deserved my "farting and leaving the room" comment.
As for him engaging on that thread, only Sitters could tell you whether he always planned to or felt compelled to because posters were taking him to task for lighting the blue touch paper on threads and walking away. |  |

I think it's important for ALL posters to understand, now, especially when arguing over political issues, and anything that could be seen as "bullying", could be taken to the Police, or the club and you simply be banned from watching Town. Some may scoff at that, but it happens and is it really worth it? All it would take is for one poster to identify you, and claim they are being bullied, and would feel unsafe watching Town and you could be gone.
If you wouldn't act that way in person, don't do it here.
I have a feeling that sometimes, a few people have a couple of after work beers and get themselves into these arguments without thinking ahead. |  |
