Doesn't seem like an obvious target for the Russians. Fairford is not used in support of Ukraine. Unless they were doing it as a favour for Iran, but that would be very dicey, with probable bad consequences, thus unlikely. |  |

Most of what the Russians have gone after is civilian infrastructure and businesses trading on behalf of, or making components for, Ukraine*. Attacking military bases - UK or used by the USAF - makes little sense.
An Iranian-backed/inspired cell attacking Fairford, where B1 bombers are currently based for strikes on Iran (frequently see them flying around here), is infinitely more probable, in my view.

Do you have a source for that? I have not seen any reference beyond "several men arrested" and some images of robots looking in the back of white vans. I don't do the socials, so there is likely a gap in my knowledge. | |

Thanks for that, I know nothing of the source, nor the legitimacy of the image, but taking it at face value, I'll still likely wait until more official confirmation as foreign state actors have often been known to recruit 'useful idiots', so little can really be read into the perpetrators vs the actors behind them at this point.
That being said, my initial "Russia" comment was based on an early speculation from one of the mainstream media sites (forget which one), but I am inclined to agree that, given the target, it is more likely to be Iran related than Ukraine related... could still turn out to be neither. | |

You may be absolutely right and they might not be Russians but I don't know how you can just claim "they don't look like Russians" from any images you've seen.
Russia is the largest country in the world with dozens of minorities and cultures, they aren't all white European looking.
