Man City fans absolutely lapped it up vs Liverpool and had one of the loudest away ends you will see anywhere because of it. Put our focus on supporting the team. Unless we win of course and in that case let them have it.

| Should be a big atmosphere tomorrow on 09:22 - Oct 16 with 1658 views | _CliveBaker_ | Lets be honest, its a tricky afternoon at the Etihad regardless of the circumstances, but with this context and off the back of a home defeat to PSG its even tougher. Personally I don't mind giving City a bit of stick, but hopefully 95% of the Town fans efforts are spent getting behind our lads. As much as I despise City and their owners and hope the book is well and truly thrown at them, it really isn't the doing of their fans. I think they're responding as any supporters would TBH, they're not going to sit there and apologise on behalf of their corrupt owners. We'll likely lose, probably by a few goals at that. Its not games like this that will dictate our season though. Loud and proud from the Town fans, support our own, fk City. Give our lads the push to come back swinging against Forest if tomorrow goes against us. | | | |

Totally agree. I'm looking forward to it, hopefully a better atmosphere than usual there and probably a record crowd for the new stadium too. Some more quotes from that thread on their forum: "more than anything we should give the lads the biggest welcome we have ever staged before a game" "Noise, and lots of it. We’ve got used to sitting back and letting our team entertain us. We are new the worlds most hated club. We need to match the hate with absolute unrelenting support for our team." "the atmosphere is going to be unreal, fck the PL." "Never been this motivated to watch City v Ipswich ever. Full force of our fan base will be more than evident that we support our club and owners" "This is were we show our strength and togetherness , if the Dippers think their atmosphere will be epic , cant wait for this"

Quite the opposite. Unless you’re happy for it to be forgotten about and don’t mind it all blowing over so City get a 50p fine and told to run along and play nicely.

Not sure the Ipswich away end will have much bearing on that tbh...

What absolute rubbish, are you also one of those who feels City fans deserve sympathy.
| Should be a big atmosphere tomorrow on 10:07 - Oct 16 with 1403 views | JakeITFC | It is an interesting insight into their mindset that effectively a) they did break the rules but b) the rules were unjust and c) everything is a big corruption to make Liverpool/Arsenal/Manchester United successful. I think there is some merit in the idea that what the Abu Dhabi ownership have done for Manchester City is good; that area of Manchester is now transformed and re-generated, they have built a footballing juggernaut that now makes legitimate revenues that in turn makes the Premier League a richer place and have obviously given fans memories to last a lifetime. I would, for example, rate their ownership of Manchester City as less offensive to the English game to what the Glazers have done to Manchester United. The flip side of course is that they broke lots of rules to get to this point and a very severe footballing punishment is 100% required. I do however think the framing of them as the bad guys and everyone else as the heroes in the story is unfair and untrue. | | | |

Whether you agree with the rules or not, they are there - you can’t just break them if you don’t agree with them. If you disagree that shoplifting is illegal, so you do it, you get punished. And City’s crime is slightly more serious than shoplifting by hundreds of millions of pounds.

| Should be a big atmosphere tomorrow on 10:20 - Oct 16 with 1309 views | skinnybob72 | While they were always a well supported club there is little doubt that half of those in the stadium will be plastics / glory hunters who only started to watch City when the money and success came along. They wouldn't know how to create an atmosphere if the owners paid them. The fans lapped it up when they've been winning everything and now that they have been found to be cheating on an industrial scale they're showing defiance? F*** them. I do worry that if their players are on it and we are off it we could rival that beating at Old Trafford all those years ago - but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean a lot as nothing City have done, or continue to do, has any merit in my eyes. | | | |

Yeah and they should be kicked out of the league for that, 100%. But I look at leveraged US takeovers of United and Burnley, Arsenal making record revenues and making dozens of non-footballing staff redundant, Chelsea spending billions and trying to get past amortisation rules and a lot of the other mess that happens every season with EFL owners and don't see that the rules designed to make football fair or sustainable are doing their job. Doesn't excuse City's behaviour but I think should shine a light on a broken set of rules in more than one direction.

Tho your middle paragraph is not too different to what our owners have been doing. Massive investment, increased revenues, success on the pitch and involvement in developing the Portman Road area of the town. The crucial difference being the fact we haven't simply muscled everything through ASAP with cash and that we have (so far as can be judged) stayed within the rules.

Yes, we are fortunate to have objectively good owners. My point is that the is due to the luck of the draw rather than good legislation. FFP, SCP, and any other financial legislation in the football of this country isn't making football more sustainable. I would also say that if it comes out in 5 years time that our ownership cooked the books to get us through League One or the Championship I imagine our fanbase would find it difficult to tally with (and disassociate good from bad) in the same way that Manchester City's are now.
