Did brilliantly to stay in the game. Just did next to nothin in 12 minutes of stoppage time, not helped by some really poor work by the linesman but our final ball was awful.

On the whole a pretty good performance. I would have had Flemming on much earlier, Emersson was having no joy up there. Akpom did well when he came on.

Could have easily been a point.

Can I ask though what is it people like about flemming so far this season. I was excited about him joining, but i can't see how he starting or coming on earlier would help us, I don't really feel i see much from him when he comes on.

Genuine question as i'd like to watch out for it next week. Perhaps it's something not shown on screen?

He's a proper scrapper, holds the ball up and has goals in him (and a great penalty clearly, reminded me of Delap at Fulham).

Honestly don’t understand how you could be flat after 3-2 at the Etihad….

Because it's still 0 points?

I can understand it but it is very much couched in the knowledge we are in a very healthy position overall.

Never nice to lose but if anyone can't see from that result & performance that we are in a pretty good place then I despair.

Don't be too flat. That still shows how far we've come compared to last time.

This is the key. Have we progressed? Yes. Are we competitive with most teams? Clearly. We certainly weren’t two years ago.

To the match itself, it was one of those where I fearing a confidence shattering hammering. That MC team are capable of delivering that. Whilst I wish the Premier was competitive top to bottom, it isn’t. The top teams are by and large at a different level. Yesterday we had their crowd whistling for the final whistle.

So the positive take is that we are in this. The players showed heart and staying power. Organised with a capacity to hit teams. I do understand that it is disappointing we didn’t get a result and I think GON public take is about right - but there was a lot to take from the game.

Really, we are playing cheats who beat Liverpool at Anfield 3-0 last time out.

Yes, we 'could' have got a point, but I don't expect many sides to go there and be in with a chance of getting something at the end, never mind scoring two goals.

I honestly thought we'd get a good thrashing today so very happy with the result but I get at time of posting after final whistle there may have been some disappointment.

I’m feeling the exact opposite. Full of hope and positivity after that performance. We’ve made massive strides in the two years since we last went there.

Night and day wasn't it? We were never out of the game. Things to improve, sure. But that's potentially the toughest game of the year out the way and we've gave them a good go, especially when we were braver in the second half.

Would have loved to have seen how that game plays out with Lukic in there.
