Not sure on the validity of this but the fact Kieran Maguire retweeted it makes it seem believable.
I hadn’t heard of our investor and it’s only a small amount he donated but interesting to note it’s democrats not republicans he had supposedly donated to. Glad it’s not The other way around

Surely if our owners donated to Democrats, that would put them politically at odds with our fash-loving CEO

Is that what the article states because the headline and banner shared implies they have all donated to Trump?

From the article:

"Ipswich investor Marc Lasry has donated $7,300 to Democrat causes while Aston Villa co-owner Wes Edens has donated $5,000 to Republican-sympathetic candidate Mike Crapo."

I appreciate that it's a different investor, and smaller than the main ownership group, but that certainly seems to tie in with what was being said about the main owership group around the time of the Führage debacle.

Are you comparing the Tories of the Cobbolds' era and Harold MacMillan to Trump?

I don't think it should surprise anyone that they were Conservative-leaning.

Ideologies were obviously different, but both were backed by the wealthy and privileged, as most politicians ultimately are.

John Cobbold was a three times failed Tory general election candidate for Ipswich. There were some Cobbold Tory MPs for Ipswich during the 1800s.

We have a lot of wealthy American shareholders. I would be amazed if most of them weren't donors to both the Demos and the GOP.

Of course as individuals they are all free to donate to political parties should they wish, it’s just that the fact it links our club to politics again and makes it sound a little like it’s a club rather than an individual decision. Although I guess the writer of the article is naming the clubs whose investors have donated as context to the article as it’s about the rather unpopular Glasers. Had it of just mentioned our investors name rather than ITFC I wouldn’t have made any link.

If they, in a personal capacity, want to do political stuff, no problem.

Just don't need the club involved.

Which in this case, it's not.

Yep. Pretty simple tbh.

I'd be staggered if none of our American investors make donations to the Republicans tbh.

Not so. Harold Macmillan was married to a sister of Lady Blanche Cobbold, wife of Captain Ivan Cobbold, chairman of the new professional club in 1936 and father of future chairmen John and Patrick Cobbold, so the prime minister was their uncle.
