As I said, it is no fault of Walton's and yes, he has come in and at times, played admirably but in this League, we need more, especially given how much we have spent in that area trying to get it right.

You're right that we've struggled to find a goalkeeper at the next level to take the shirt and make it theirs but that's why we have a strong department with brilliant servants like Walton.

I admire your positivity and boundless optimism, and last season was with you from the start that we would get promoted despite some blips along the way when others were critical left, right and centre.
However, this is the Premier League, the best league in world football and today has shown that for all our superiority, we do desperately need to strengthen our goalkeeping position and improve defensively going forward. We do play some great stuff at times but it’s just that nagging feeling that this could come and bite us squarely on the arse if we don’t. |  |

But the game is made up of millions of these split second decisions as alluded do by GON. You want your players to make the right one more often than not. DOS and Walton do I would say.
Today there are errors but DOS has to weigh engaging with trying to keep his man covered too. He makes the wrong decision but the goal comes from turning over possession not from DOS error really.

I wouldn't start getting complacent. Good though this team largely is, we could still easily get relegated. Loss of form, injuries, it can easily turn.
Many of us are still scarred by 2001/02. Very decent team on paper that should have had more than enough to comfortably stay up. 12th place in February.
Yet down we went, and down we stayed for 22 years!
