Celtic 19:18 - Nov 27 with 5116 viewsgtsb

Just read that their players average weekly wage is 16k. Now don't get me wrong I'd love that but for a club that still classes itself as a massive club that is pissss poor. No wonder they can't compete in Europe.

I would imagine players expecting to earn 16k are all they can attract there. Players expecting 50k can go elsewhere and actually play in a meaningful league.

When you say 'the average' do you mean the mean, mode or median wage is 16k?

Probably still 10 times more than those playing for the smaller Scottish Premier teams

It's almost funny watching Celtic celebrate winning the league. Especially when Rangers weren't in the division.

Some sort of Euro league for the top teams from Scotland, Holland, Belgium and the like really is the only way forward if they ever want to compete with the big clubs in the big 5 leagues.

Your last sentence. Do you mean the gap between Celtic and the rest of the Scottish Premiership or Celtic and the teams in the Champions league.

If you look at what disparity in wages and transfer funds, anything other than winning the league by an absolute mile would be disgraceful.

The winners of the Scottish Premiership receive just over 3 million, which imo suggests Celtic do pretty well in Europe. The constant belittling of Scottish football is pretty odd considering the amount of talent it has created and/or nurtured over the years, Wanyama, Van Dijk and Robertson in the very recent history.

Agreed, Celtic consistently punch above their weight in Europe given the stature of their domestic league.

Exactly mate, financially they're equal to a league 1 side so pulling off wins against strong European sides, even recently with the win against Leipzig is very impressive.

Salford are 'apparently' paying Rooney £4,000 p/w. If true, just shows you the amount of money that is splashing around the game in England.

As funny as watching Manchester City celebrating winning the league by 19 points last season? Or Barca win La Liga by 14 points?

Celtic won the league by 9 points btw.

Edit. Looking at other leagues, Bayern won the Bundesliga by 21 points, Juventus won Serie A by 12points and PSG won Ligue 1 by 13 points.

If you get in early enough, there are some decent players in Scotland that cost next to nothing, but you tend to find Celtic just snapping them up the whole time.

Snapped up Lewis Morgan from St Mirren last year too. Ryan Christie is now starting to become a regular after a few loan spells too.

Aberdeen want the best part of £10m+ for McKenna, think Villa and Hull had quite big bids rejected in the summer. The player that springs to mind at the moment is Lewis Ferguson at Aberdeen. They got him for peanuts from Hamilton in the summer, looks a decent player.
