Just converted the garage into a bit of a tv snug room and need a TV for the wall. Not looking to spend a great deal as probably not used a lot. Amazon Prime have a HiSense 43 inch for 268 today which seems incredibly cheap. I know it isn't going to be as good as a 2 grand Samsung but I don't know anything about Hi Sense, is it a bad purchase for what it is?

Cheers

HiSense are a decent enough brand, offer great value for money. Worth seeing is the same TV is on the John Lewis website (they do sell HiSense) as you'll get a longer warranty. Richer Sounds is also worth checking out.

HiSense are good for the price, but they are budget TVs so the image quality isn't going to be amazing.

TCL is another brand that does good TVs at a decent price.

I bought this one over the Summer

Couldn't be happier with it for the price really. Great picture quality, sound is good too.

If you can afford to stump up a bit more

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-43HX580BZ-Ultra-Multi-Freeview/dp/B0883RSN

is a cracking deal - you don't often see Pana's get discounted.

My current tv is an 11 year old Pana which is still going strong. ( I'm tempted to upgrade myself, but as I have a projector as well, can't really justify at present).

I bought this a couple of weeks ago - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7912036

It's pretty decent, got all the content streaming apps on. Remote is sometimes a little slow to respond but that could be my impatience.

They also have this one, https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7692923 which looks like the one on Amazon linked elsewhere on the thread, but cheaper.

When mounting on the wall, I used an All For One bracket - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9401394

It was a right sod to get the 43 inch screen on the wall properly.

If you use apps, watch out for deliberate inbuilt obsolescence.

If you want to get ITV Hub, don't get a Sony, they won't allow it (or wouldn't when I bought mine in 2014 - situation similar to Apple/Android). I wouldn't have Sony again anyway, remotes are dreadful.

It's the smallest model in Hisense's new Roku-powered 7120 range. Rather than using the Vidaa U operating system, it uses Roku OS. It's a 4K TV and supports HDR10 and HLG. These are the basic formats that are common on 4K TVs in 2019. HDR10 is the industry standard and HLG will be used by the BBC and other broadcasters when they launch 4K channels.
Since the prices are so similar, it's likely that the 7120 range will be close to the 7100 range in terms of specifications and features, other than the new Roku operating system of course. That would mean the 7120 has both a satellite and Freeview tuner for accessing SD and HD channels as well as three HDMI inputs and two USB ports for adding extra devices.
The equivalent model to this one from the 7100 range, the H43B7100UK, didn't fare well in our tests. It scored 50%, which is only 5% away from a Don't Buy. Our main criticisms were of the poor sound, woeful motion control and the slow menus.
We can't say for certain that the R43B7120UK would have the same issues, but given that the average score for a Hisense 43-inch TV in 2019 is just 49% we don't have high hopes for this one.
What features does it have and what can I watch?
One area where there may be improvements is with those slow menus. The Roku operating system should bring a wide range of apps, which is something other Hisense models lack. The home screen is dominated by large bright icons for your favourite apps, TV services and inputs. It's up to you what icons appear here, so the screen can be made up of the stuff you use most.
The UK's main catch-up apps are supported, as well as Netflix, Amazon Prime TV and Now TV.Roku TV streamers can be controlled with an app on your phone and you'll be able to use a similar app to control this TV.
Freeview Play is built in too, so you'll be able to scroll back through the previous week's TV on the electronic programme guide and watch what you've missed without loading a catch-up app.
Should I buy it?
It's unlikely we'll test this TV, but the quality of other Hisense TVs gives us cause for concern. Its 43-inch TVs, even more expensive ones, have been poor in 2019. We think the Roku partnership is a smart one, though. If future Hisense TVs we test are quicker and have more fleshed out app stores thanks to Roku, it's a positive move.

This is why you forget about the 'Smart' element and buy a Firestick or similar instead.

I would always recommend an LG and get the best you can afford. Them and Samsung score the highest in the Which reviews.

I have the QLED model which is great but if you want to spend around £400 they do a great 50".

Hughes in Marltesham are worth a look if youre nearby.

Builders. It was £7k but will end up about 10k but it was an integrated double garage. We've chopped in in half so stud wall down the middle. End up buying a new garage door for the other half and a new front door for the house and then new flooring for the hallway hence the extra cost. Happy with it, had a walk in cupboard at one end and then a separate room for a corner sofa bed and a TV and then a desk at the end

We were sat together in a first class bit and he was one phone ordering a new car.

When he came off the phone the apologised to making the call and showed me a picture of this sports car.

I said it was nice and that I guessed he must be a sportmans or something to get something like that.

He then explain who is was, which included that comment.

We chatted for about 45 mins and when he got off he commented it was nice to talk to someone who didn't know who he was
