I know I’m biased because I probably like Mick an irrational amount but... 15:48 - Nov 7 with 1062 viewsSwailsey

I really don’t see how people can be remotely happier with ITFC now.

Why is there not the same level of discontent? The football is occasionally mildly better, but we’re a league below, against worse players.

Mick did have to go probably, it was untenable - and I appreciate that just because his successors were poor doesn’t change that. But things were absolutely brutal on here, disgusting under him.

How is this not worse? I’ve never felt so empty about Town. I miss the feeling of joy, excitement, hope!

I’ll keep paying the season ticket, keep buying the shirt, keeping supporting (and I know some will be unhappy about that - lining the pockets of the owner - but we’re in a pandemic, the club needs us). But I miss my club.

And we scored halfway through this. That doesn’t change anything.

The vitriol isn’t remotely the same as it was under Mick’s last season or even under Hurst or Jewell.

Why is this? Are people just numb to it now? Is it expected?

Think you're arguing with a straw man here. I don't see a lot of happiness round here.

I remember equally poor performances under Mick. There’s no question we’ve had our fair share of dire performances under all managers. The difference here is that we’re trying to play football out from the back which we’d never really do under Mick as he was about percentages and risk mitigation first. However, we’re so laboured and error prone with so little movement in midfield, playing out of the back like this is woeful.

Maybe I wasn’t clear - but surely, given the level of discontent is seemingly less than under other managers, people must be happier surely?

Crowds were still up. More people defending PL etc.

I’m not looking for an argument - I just don’t get it.

I don't see how you can rate the current level of discontent when we aren't allowed in the ground?

I’m not saying abuse PL. So actually, hell, I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore.

Looks similar to me. Perhaps it's dialled down because we're second in the table, albeit at the lower level, so even those, like myself, who think Lambert should have gone at the end of both of our two previous seasons, find it a bit churlish to spit vitriol in games we have won.

No, the difference is that now we are in League One, rather than top half of the Championship

I make you right. In fact the one poster on here who comes close cops more grief than Lambert from half the board

Look we are shocking at the moment but MM's time at the club had come to an end . Mick knew it Evans knew it and most sensible fans knew it . FFS can we move on.

I think there is a lot of numbness and almost resignation, which is not good, but the time for railing against this should have been long ago. Not having fans in attendance is is probably keeping the vitriol levels down and this bloke in a job. For my own part, I try to distance myself a bit because the whole Towen 'situation' doesn't sit well in my head.

It is. I think PL's the worst coach in the division and it's not even close, but I can see why Mick was getting more grief at the end than Lambert has for much of his reign. He'd been manager for 5 seasons, he'd taken us to what were then our lowest league finishes in half a century and he didn't seem too bothered about responding tactfully to whatever antagonism did exist.

Lambert got a free pass from Hurst's start, which he shouldn't have done, but I understand and that carried him through to Summer 2019. We were near the top of League One until January, so he got a pass for that. As we slipped down the table the tide did turn on him and I think most people have wanted him sacked ever since.

Another point i'd make is that i think that the board is more united against Lambert than the managers you list.

There were always big divisions where one faction would celebrate a win and the next week a different faction would bemoan the loss. I don't really see that now.

His question wasn’t which division we’re currently in. Thanks for pointing it out though, factually accurate as ever and equally inspirational insight. All the uppies to you.

But it was implicit in his question wasn’t it? We had some cr*p performances then and we have some now, but at least then they were in the division above

Playing a few more passes across our backline before failing to threaten doesn’t suddenly make this better, the fact that posters like you are still trying to make out like we’re better off now is mental

I said in my post “it’s woeful”, how does that mean or insinuate I think this is better!?

This is another desperate attempt to carve out an argument to air some superiority complex, as ever. Whatever you have missing in your life, remedy it rather than coming on here to make an argument out of nothing. Maybe let’s chat about your experience playing in the FA Cup if you want to flex your superior football insights. Not made any? Figured as much, all talk.

‘How does that mean or insinuate I think this is better!?’ Probably the bit where you also said ‘ The difference here is that we’re trying to play football out from the back which we’d never really do under Mick as he was about percentages and risk mitigation first’, like that somehow means things are better now

I have a few medals from local football but never good enough to have played in the FA Cup sadly. Not really sure why you think that’s relevant though - I could just as easily point out that you haven’t managed at a World Cup the next time you’re still blubbing about Mick’s time here
