As Nick Griffin once wittily remarked, "Well, the Indian restaurants know how to make the food now, so why do we need them here?"

I'm torn. one one hand i don't want the near certain disaster no deal would bring. On the other, I want these feckers to wear their mess with pride.

win/win or lose/lose i spose.

It's all posturing before a deal is announced that both sides will celebrate as a massive win.

Still mad that this is happening at all.

They won't, ullaa, they're already blaming Remain voters. Nothing is EVER these people's fault. F*ck every single one of them for the damage and diminishment they have caused.

At least if we 'get it done' this year, then two massive headaches will be solved (well, sort of). But here's the problem: what the bloody hell are we all going to talk about? What did people talk about before?

It really doesn't seem like it!

Oh well, we've still got Prince Philip's annual visit to the hospital death rumours to tide us over in a few weeks' time, I spose.

I fear the real headaches will only just be beginning, but yes I hear what you're saying. What with Trump gone, COVID's days hopefully numbered thanks to the vaccine and Brexit finally getting 'resolved' at least on paper (if not the economic and social reality), perhaps 2020 is the bottoming out that we needed and 2021 will be one of cleaning up ahead of a period of prosperity and harmony. We can but hope.

Trump will still be around if he confirms he wants to run again in four years time, Brexit will never go away there will always be posters willing to remind us of the past, remember we still get MM dragged into posts.

We will start to see the good side of COVID when they start pointing out that the measures we have been taking to keep COVID in check have been responsible for a big reduction in deaths from the flu.

It is beginning to look that BLM is shaping up to be the subject that keeps Phil on his toes.

I will be amazed if we don’t get a deal, as others have said pretty sure this is all posturing so maximum back slapping can be achieved come deal time.

We wont mention the bill of billions for getting a worse deal than pre brexit of course, as that would be treasonous and unpatriotic

Yeah, that thread on awful celebrities which someone posted many moons ago told a lot of negative Cilla stories. Her name was the most frequently mentioned there as well, iirc.

This isn't news though is it. The clauses were always there as a threat and have the smell of Cummings' doing.

That Boris is a dishonest tosser won't be lost on the negotiators and ironically has probably led the EU to harden it's resolve around the level playing field rules and how to ensure we don't do the dirty further down the line.

If we can get a deal which doesn't violate the Good Friday Agreement and is also acceptable to Bill Cash and co AND to the DUP/Loyalist community in Northern Ireland, then I will be very surprised indeed.

The problem is that it's pretty impossible to reconcile all of those positions, so any deal will result in some (probably unforeseen) nasty complications in Northern Ireland.

The 'unforeseen' consequences will only be entirely unpredictable if you actually believed Boris when he told you that it will all be unicorns, sunny uplands and white people only once Brexiy was 'done'.

(Not saying that you fell for Boris, here).
