BBQs are banned in most London parks. I think London Fields might have a small section where they are allowed and there are some built-in ones in the Olympic Park but apart from that the wardens actively drive around and make sure people don't have them.

Even on Felixstowe beach, which is shingle (mostly), a small gust of wind and your sandwich/ice cream has sand on it.
BBQ peeps always seem to be litter louts too.

I have a beach hut in walton and had to challenge some dick who couldn't keep his bbq alight on the beach so had tucked himself right behind a neighbours hut.
The next day the half burnt bbq was still there together with the usual food and drink trash. There is just no way to safely dispose of a recently used bbq.
Not a meat eater but im sure the produce must be nicely burnt on the outside and raw inside as he was cooking in the flames and hadn't waited for the coals to turn to a calm down. |  | | |
