You know when there's a bit of argie-bargie in a football match, and the players start trying to knock ten bells out of each other, that moment when the commentator says "We don't want to see scenes like this in football", well I do. I love it. The more they get stuck in the better.
I wish they'd get properly stuck in like they did in ye goode olde dayes
Remember when there used to be bargain bins rammed full of tapes like that in amongst all the unsold Jethro and police chase VHSs. 'Footy's tastiest tear-ups' or summat like that. TWTD.

I suspect you and I are of a similar generation where we football was a 'mans' game with proper tackles, muddy pitches and the occasional bit of fisty cuffs

Nowadays football is softer than rugby league!!
I bet that even some of the younger lads on here like to see a good old ruckus on the field ,too.
Used to love to get in peoples faces in the Tread first Halstead League back in the day myself. Was always in the ear of the fullback. Never anything nasty or malicious or over the top, but would crunch into a tackle and rant and rave and make myself known at a corner.
Lovely days.

always made sure I went in harder than the centre forward - hard but fair and the best way to avoid serious leg injuries. Town's best teams were always 'handy' in that way and I hope Cooks team next season is too :)

Not at all. 'Bring back the biff'. Can always make up over a pint and a fag in the pub afterwards, all good fun as long as both sides are up for it.
By the way, I just saw a Collared Dove kicking the sh*t out of a Turtle Dove in my back garden.
I always imagined, that with that lovely soft call, Turtle Doves would be gentle souls but apparently not.
BIrds are bloodthirsty scoundrels though. A few weeks ago I almost trod on 2 blue tits that were so intent upon killing each other they hadn't seen me coming.
I remember Allan Hunter having a go at Mick Channon when he was playing for Man C. The referee had hold of one of Hunters arms and a linesman the other and they were being flung around like a windmill as Hunter tried to break free in order to punch Channon around the bonce.
I'm not sure he was even booked.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”
Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.
I love it. It rarely happens nowadays unfortunately. One minor one I remember was Jim Magilton giving Gavin Peacock a kicking in front of the Portman Road dug outs in 1999. Red card and a 1-4 defeat followed.
The best ever is this, just after the final whistle in the 1984 Spanish Cup final. I've never watched the game but you can be sure it wasn't as good as this...

I remember Herman picking Paul Dickov off the ground and really wanting to nut him after they clashed at the corner flag the year we mauled City (ok, 3-2) at Maine Road...

Judge v Drysdale was the highlight of the season and in twenty years from now there will be plenty of TWTDers claiming they were at the game and saw it happen.
