Rumours were that he was coming in as manager this morning and then suddenly he's been appointed at the club. People could have been making the assumption it was the manager's job rather than coaching but there is no smoke without fire. He was on Evans shortlist before and has indicated he wants the manager's job here, so interesting move by Gamechanger to get him on the books early and then once Cook's failure is all but confirmed at the end of the month/January he can make a seamless transition into the top job, even if it's just to manage a transitional period while they appoint someone else. McGreal will see it as an opportunity that if he does well in the interim he can take over.

I definitely didn't deserve the downvotes and some of these harsh comments for pointing out what should have been plainly obvious. I am no expert but the way I was rubbished here was unfair and unnecessary, wasn't it? You don't just add a manager to your staff with a token job at random, as I said no smoke without fire but I was called an idiot for pointing this out.
So maybe be a little more polite in future debates instead of all-out attack folks! Takes nothing to be polite and have a reasonable discussion does it, why the playground abuse over what I said here? Genuinely want to know why I got this stick. | |

I appreciate some of you aren't living locally, but we are a relatively small club in a smaller Town and people were aware in Ipswich this was happening the morning of the U21 loss and that was filtering through via word of mouth, much in the same way the takeover did. The decision was made before even then most likely. | |

I thought I made that clear with the contingency plan and him going to be manager, which he is, caretaker or otherwise. I think the OP pretty much covers it with 'McGreal will see it as an opportunity that if he does well in the interim he can take over'. That's not an unlogical position to take imo.
