To be fair on the OP, as someone who frequently sits in different areas as I have often not had a season ticket, I know the sort he is referring to. They seem to attend with negative intentions from the off and moan about everything and I think "why bother?" I can only assume they are really negative people and moan about everything in life. It must be really draining for them and on those who know them well. Thing is, if I had a season ticket near them and was that affected by them, I think I would speak to the ticket office about relocating. It isn't like it is currently that difficult to find a seat for a season ticket (might have to wait until after Lincoln now, though).

I did precisely that two years ago (moved seats) - a bloke in my ear shot constantly berating the team from the start to the finish, only quietening down when we were 3-0 up. I wonder if these people actually watch football outside Portman Road where even the very best players misplace the odd pass or mess up a corner/free-kick. Certain seats should come with a health warning! For the Barrow game we decided to sit upstairs for a change and that was dire too, although the football on offer was very poor that day so more understandable. Anyway, happy where I am now and my daughter gets to come along too so it all worked out well in the end. It would be interesting to know what parts of the ground are consistently the best/worst.

When I did have a season ticket, the chap next to us always stood up and shouted "rubbish!" when we conceded a goal. On occasion his false teeth went flying too! That is just part of the experience. There will always be the odd negative comment. They probably always remember me for giving the ref abuse when most others didn't think he had done anything too bad. It is the constant loud negativity regardless that is the issue. I am glad you have found a far better place to enjoy what you see.

The moaning, faceless voices of misery at Portman Road on 10:08 - Dec 19 with 2682 views | Mijckl | Somehow they're always the ones with the loudest voices Had one turn up behind me for the Crewe game, he was non-stop moaning at the top of his voice the whole game Yesterday in the queue outside the club shop after the game, another one slating the new manager ("...weve just appointed a man with no managerial experience, blah blah...") and his 'ex-scum' number two. Got as far away from him and his crew as soon as they let us in but nowhere was far enough. These people want failure, I wish they'd just sod off

Yep, this has always been my experience too. As I'm on the other side of the country, I get there when I can with my lad. Against Oxford I was in the SAR Lower and the team were running short sprints on the goal line as they came out for kick off. A guy, 2 or 3 rows behind me shouted, "What the fcuk is this Sh^t? Get up there for fcuking kick off!!" Against Morecambe, again sat with my lad, but this time in the family enclosure, GG, KVY failed to trap a pass and it went for a throw, and a female voice somewhere to my right shouts, "Oh for gods sake Kane you prick".

I thought on the whole yesterday it was good, most people were expecting us to get annihilated but we looked more like a team yesterday than we have done most of the season. Everyone had a clear role and there was flexibility in the team. Sunderland well organised to absorb a lot of the threats. I think if we played that way against 90% of this league we’d win most of the games. People left happy, and I didn’t hear much complaining compared to recent weeks.

The only time when I moaned was when Alan Bradley got knocked over by that tram on Blackpool promenade in Coronation Street. Surely he could have seen that blo0dy thing coming along?

Most people moan occasionally, some often, for others its a way of life and they make sure everyone else knows about it.

Funnily enough, I was in Churchmans that afternoon and when Kevin missed, there wasn’t any moans at all. We were tearing them a new one at that point, so missing wasn’t such an issue that day, I suppose. I bet in Pioneer it was. Some in there used to moan when a pigeon flew over. I don’t know whether sitting down encourages more moans and groans or whether the passage of time changes one’s perspective of how things were, but I certainly feel people get jittery quicker than they used to. Mind you if you went to any of the London grounds from the 1970s, the crowd were on the players from the off. West ‘Am were one of the worst for that. The funniest was Torquay United where the crowd was obviously tiny. The players used to get dogs abuse as they ran out and because the crowd was small, they could hear every insult. I moaned a couple of times at the shooting, because some of it was piss poor and wasteful! Also we should have never given that goal away!

2blokes behind me moaned from the start, and when Barnsley opened the scoring that was it as far as they were concerned. When we equalized I turned round and politely but firmly that perhaps they might shut the f-ck up.

The moaning, faceless voices of misery at Portman Road on 18:35 - Dec 19 with 1920 views | The_Major | I remember seeing something written by, of all people, a Norwich fan, who quite often heard "Oh dear, we ain't got a hope with this lot" from patrons in their South Stand (Now the Jarrold) which he wrote translated as "We do not appear to have won the European Cup twelve years on the trot, therefore the standard I hold the team up to clearly has not been met". Should also point out that this was 92/93 - their best ever season. Every club has them.
