Anybody on here ever seen an unexplained animal out and about? on 05:12 - Feb 10 with 1296 views | IPS_wich | Not in the UK, but moving down under - you know there are some deadly snakes around, but that moment when you come across one is genuinely terrifying. Only seen one up close - it was just slithering across the road near a public car park. Even though we were in the car - everyone was freaking out and it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. In the UK, the only similar experience was also a snake - but this time it was an Adder down in Sussex (East Grinsted I think) when I was playing golf there about 20 years ago and searching for my ball in the trees. It took one look at me and shot into the bushes.

Anybody on here ever seen an unexplained animal out and about? on 09:20 - Feb 10 with 1042 views | earlsgreenblue | Was out on the boat the other week, missus & dog sat on the swim platform paddling, I was messing about & glanced up to see a black dorsal fin 30ft away cruising slowly just behind us, now, her in doors had not spotted it, when I told her to look, it was probably the quickest she’s ever moved. Later told it was a whale, non threatening but a sight for sure.

Had a brown snake chase after our truck in Australia once. That thing was bloody rapid and terrifying

I guess you're a city boy? I only spent two or three years out there, and had quite a few encounters with serpents. Coming within a few inches and a split-second of stepping on a four foot Taipan once was probably the worst, also aggressive Eastern browns and red-bellied black snakes, including one that went between my legs when I was working. Had a bit of fun with scorpions too, and I think I saw a crocodile broach fairly near to me when I was having a quick dip off an island once - I got out quick.

Yes, big cats only live for max 15 or so years so the original releases are long gone - while there might possibly have been a few instances of wild breeding, reliable sightings have declined, and there's never been roadkill (which there definitely would be if there was any kind of reproducing wild population) which suggests that whatever there once might have been is basically gone.

I have literally no idea why you lot swim inland at all. On shore I can just about accept but river dipping? Absolute madness.

In the southern half of Australia there's no issues swimming in the rivers, you don't get crocs this far south. In Perth the wildest thing you get in the river is dolphins (which you see a lot) and jetskiers. The ocean is the terrifying bit - quite a large number of sharks and jellyfish. Plus, most of the snakes are in the sand dunes along the coast which you have to walk through to get from the car to the ocean. Give me the river any day.
Anybody on here ever seen an unexplained animal out and about? on 03:30 - Feb 11 with 696 views | The_Romford_Blue | My uni gaf in Wycombe had a woods behind it and a farm alongside because we went for a family house rather than a typical university house so were abit out in the sticks. The house backed on to an open area of about 2 miles of woodlands, greenery and hills. A few weeks after we left we established that there’d been numerous sightings of a 4 to 5 foot panther over the years and a spike that very month we’d left. Apparently it had somehow got released many years ago and has been living off livestock etc from the farm. Pretty mad but true. We used to go on late night walks in those hills too. Google panther High Wycombe and there’s loads about. Even a Facebook group for its sightings apparently. [Post edited 11 Feb 2022 3:35]
