That fell off years ago mate. Seriously though, we were thinking of where to go on our next trip and Chernobyl sounded interesting. You can get tours around the place, I think you can get pretty much in the action if you get the right one - not sure how legal those are though. I was researching it when Covid decided not to be an Easter Flu. Trust Putin to potentially screw it up. I wouldn't say I liked Putin or even admired him but he is a very strong politician isn't he. I'm not trying to be daft or controversial, he really does have a tight control. It will be interesting to see what happens when he goes. [Post edited 21 Feb 2022 22:34]

Putin is a very insecure, weak man actually. And as ever, you look beyond the ‘leader’ to who ensures he stays in power. Putin, or his backers, already have the next leader lined up of course. A 69 year old, steroid dependent Russian is on borrowed time.

Putin is a dictator in all but name. Dictators tend to have absolute control. Bit of a bastard by all accounts. Was also hoping to do a Chernobyl trip as my lad was really keen for us to do so in the next year or two.

Yeah I'm sure he is, I wasn't glorifying him. Here's to Chernobyl 22 - I hope it's as eventful as Magaluf 82

Magaluf 85 for me. Can't remember much about the fortnight either apart from my mate getting a badly spelt tattoo. Chernobyl would be a fascinating visit though. Fingers crossed.

Eventful? I hope you weren’t playing Magaluf skittles in 82. Thats where you hire a car, drive down the street and if you see a few drunks staggering about, throw the doors open as you drive by and bowl them down the pavement. I think that was there in 83 or 84 so it might have been a new game for whichever year. I’d love to see Chernobyl. I’ve seen the documentaries and the mini series and wow, what a destination!

I went in 83 as well! 13 of us went in 82 and just before we did there was a NOTW expose into The Don Paco which was the hotel we were staying at. Apparently - said The NOTW - Magaluf was a place of disrepute with people shagging everywhere with The Don Paco being the epicentre of this awful nastiness. Young Lucan travelled full of expectations but only got one bird - a scouser at that!

Basically a hug area that has gone completely wild now. For now I fear it has been kiboshed due to that dastardly Putin. Pick up the phone and have a word. My colleagues in Kiev think it is about 50/50 that the situation will escalate further.

If he's a 'roid freak, that might explain his apparent mentality at the moment. Alarmingly aggressive, even towards his own associates.

What's this got to do with Covid? This seems to be happening a lot on here recently. I was discussing covid recently with a poster when another piped up about Ukraine, now this in reverse. It can't be down to poor hearing.

I was with the future misses so there was none of that milarky. Rivers of booze though. Sangria crawls, scenes from the Roman Empire…. Jeez… I can’t remember the hotel we stayed in but it was cheap (no stars) and verminous. But it had a bar and we found food elsewhere of course, so who cared about a hotel? I had planned on visiting Chernobyl with Bossbeard and a few others once the on 19:00 - Feb 24 with 1381 views | WeWereZombies | This is from 17:59 on the BBC website 'Live': Fierce battle for control in Chernobyl There is fierce fighting around the site of the former nuclear power plant in Chernobyl. Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhaylo Podolyak has said it is impossible to say if the site is safe. Podolyak says: "After a fierce battle, we lost control of the Chernobyl site." A video, verified by the BBC, appears to show Russian tanks stationed outside the former nuclear power station. Chernobyl was the site of one of the worst nuclear disasters in history, when one of its four reactors exploded in 1986.
