Sitters, it does still matter, or it SHOULD matter... they should go out and try to win every game!! Yes we won't win every game, but it's important to carry momentum in to pre season and the start of next season... we are so far off promotion at the minute, despite having a good squad on paper

Fun times when you have to keep trotting that line out after every game.

I go into next season with zero expectations tbh, until this team start doing it on the pitch then I can’t put any trust in them.

It’s ok as we always turn up for the games that DO matter so can afford to just switch off when we want.

Momentum and all that is a myth.

We started the the two season previous to this on fire after poor ends to the season.

Going backwards to finish the season is hardly a positive.

It does matter though. We should have dismantled this lot today. Instead we got an insipid performance and ending up as a draw. All football matches are important whether they be the first game or last game. Winning breeds winning. Right now, we need to start winning to carry it on through pre season and the start of what we all hope is a successful season.

Of course it matters. The whole point of sport is to beat your opponent. It’s not something to get too wound up about given the season’s over, but it still matters. It matters to the fans who commit time and money, it matters to the club if they want to progress and it matters to players looking to be part of next season. Managers are judged on results too, so I’m sure it matters to McK.

I still feel like this might actually benefit us in the long run. This team have a tendency to have arrogance when it’s totally unwarranted and going into a pre-season in dogsht form may just focus the minds more. That is the positive I’m trying to take at least.

Some of our fans have very short memories if they think the football we're currently playing isn't very good.

We're on an upward trajectory, just have faith and stop being massive fannies about it.

It does matter, winning games dead rubber or not leads to a winning mentality, we desperately need that for next season, finishing like this heaps pressure on our start next season which isn’t helpful

The concern as well is the same problems from Cook era, which seemed resolved ie condeeding late and not closing games is becoming evident again.

The only Muff in Town.

This narrative is getting a little boring.

We’re Ipswich town. Every season is a little bit worse than the last.

Today’s result is embarrassing. I’m sure we’ll do better next year but it’s getting so tedious telling ourselves this.

We also have to bear in mind we’ve been starved of decent football for so long that people get a bit carried away when we string two passes together. We’re definitely in a better place, but we also have to find a way to capitalise on the possession. We won’t get out of this league without penetrating (missus!). That’s one for the training ground over the summer.

Yea exactly that. I keep saying our fans don’t know what a top 2 team looks like because it’s been so long since we’ve seen one. Having a little run of 2ppg sent some people way overboard, we still have a lot of work to do. Have to feel we have at least a decent foundation to build from this time though.

I’m sorry, you don’t understand. It’s time for pitchforks and torches. No free hits! Best squad in the universe! Ashton brought him in. Boo! The manager chased out and all the sweaty new manager excitement of whether Warnock can be persuaded to put down his milky drink and come. The thrill of ‘major overhaul’, maybe another 19 in and a new bomb squad! Yay!

You are of course correct, but I see the usual suspects are already emerging including Captain mirth Elephantintheriverend.

This season, we’ve had the capability to beat every team, some with ease, with the exception of Rotherham. We are not far away. Three, possibly four (not sure about Jackson) really important players were missing, as Ryorry pointed out, in particular Edmundson. That’s how it was.

Are we good enough? The table says not and it doesn’t lie. Is the management good enough? Yep. Have mistakes been made? Yep. Quite a few. It happens. Only people that don’t do anything don’t make mistakes.

But your point about upward trajectory is absolutely key. It’s what is happening, regardless of peoples’ revisionism and dewey eyed recollection of Evans, Lambert and that spirited consolation goal we got against bottom placed Swindon at home last year.

Weve had a sequence of mixed performances and disappointing results. McKenna inherited a lopsided team chucked together by incompetent Cook with no decent goal scorers and as Royle once said, a team is only as good as its goal strikers.

KM will have learned more from the last month or so than the Dec-Mar run, hopefully. It’s clear where the team is short, but the base is there. I think we will be fine next season. We just need to be patient.

I think 99% of fans are being realistic, patient and fully behind the excellent KM just calling out a an abject performance. It is ok to highlight the problems but be fully supportive of the project.

It matters if you actually support this club, and if you're not as naive to repeat the same mistake you made at the end of last season, which youre doing.

Winning a game of football game for a change would be nice though. It's a forgotten feeling.
