Me and the other half have finally succumbed to the virus 07:33 - Jul 9 with 2225 viewsdavblue

After over 2 years, was always going to happen.

A headache for me and aching all over and no sleep for
Me and I was very close to getting PB on my Peloton yesterday afternoon after that the aches come on! The Other half is feeling rough.

Having to look after the kids this weekend is going to fun!

Same here, avoided it till now, but missus came down with it on Tuesday and felt terrible, I tested positive Thursday. Felt okish for a couple of days like bad hayfever, so thought I might get away with it, but had a proper shocker night last night and feel awful now.
Just in time for the heatwave!
Hope you get better soon

Exactly the same here. Two years of avoidance. My misses tested positive on Tuesday. She felt a bit rubbish for a couple of days but is improving now.

I’ve felt ok, but let’s face it, I’m doomed. Oh well.

We have a few tests left so why not if you have them? I would add that I still use one before visiting my dad who is old and vulnerable as I’d prefer not to pass it on, despite him being an annoying, miserable git.

My missus has had it since Tuesday. I'm OK so far, but will be testing regardless before visiting my Mum on Monday.

Because morally it’s the right thing to do. Just because a totally inept government tell you what not to do it doesn’t make it right.

If they told you to walk off a cliff would you?

Courtesy for others. I work in a busy shop and I don't want to ruin people's summer plans (most of our customers are picking up stuff for holidays)
Also I'd rather know I had it than just wonder.

Definitely seems to be escalating again. Hopefully these new sub variants don't make people too poorly and the hospitals don't get an influx

I think it’s the right thing to do too.

Let’s face it, they’ve only stopped issuing free test kits to save money, in the hope coronavirus will go away by ignoring it and because Johnson got bored with it. Let the bodies pile high was always his default setting.

Missus SSB tests most days on account of visiting multiple care homes in the course of her working week.
Sensible precaution in that regard.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Because there's still a clear and present risk to the vulnerable and if hospilisation is required(for whatever reason), they will still require 'cohorting' away from those people and/or specific treatments.

Mum actually caught it in hospital would you believe. She was in because she had a spinal op so was already quite weak. She was taken down to the concourse for a coffee each day to relieve the boredom so must've got it there.

It's been spiralling in hospitals again since relaxation of visiting rules most places. Personally, I'd still keep 'named people only for specific times'.

And not just for covid times....

My daughter is immune suppressed so infection could be very serious, also she is an occupational therapist, she has a long list of long covid patients whose lives have been completely turned upside down. Many in their 20's will never work again and never get back to life as they previously knew it. I know she sees the worst cases but do not under estimate what this virus is capable of doing to your life, it is essentially like having a stroke at a very young age.

Agreed Pinewood. As far as I’m concerned, it’s common sense. The risk to me personally isn’t huge, but as people on this board can confirm, it’s really something to avoid if possible because you just don’t know how it’ll affect you. If a few simple things like hand washing and a little care reduce the risk, what’s not to like?

My dad though is frail and not well. If he gets coronavirus, it’ll kill him. So my sister who is there a lot of the time and myself, who does the do every other week for a couple of days, have been very careful over the past year or two. I test before seeing him and observe the hygiene basics. No guarantees the test is accurate, but it’s a good indicator. Risk reduced.

With my wife having the virus, I will not expose him to the risk of contracting it from me if I can at all avoid it. So I won’t be seeing him for a while. I will take a series of tests in the days before I do. There is no instructions on this sort of thing. Just what I think is common sense and the right thing to do.

Take care all.

i would have thought anyone with elderly relatives, would test if they have the symptoms.
also vulnerable people would love a visit from someone who has covid.

forensic experts say footers and spruces fingerprints were not found at the scene after the weekends rows
