Real terms wage graph 13:02 - Aug 25 with 1484 views | Mullet | Just saw this and wondered if this tallies with the lived experience of TWTD? I went back to uni to become a teacher in 2011 so my whole career has essentially seen me receive "pay cuts" hasn't it? Did the two little bumps outside of the trend feel like we were wealthier?

Real terms wage graph on 16:36 - Aug 25 with 1239 views | Kropotkin123 | My wage in the UK was massively undervalued compared to my time in South Korea and now Canada. I've rarely been in a position to save in the UK, but been able to save 10Ks in these to countries. The country is financially broken. Might as well call it Boomerland, as the majority of policies have been made to serve this group politically and socially. Education fees, house ownership, environmental neglect, wages, banks, and on. Sorry to boomers that are outside of these generalisations.

Absolutely right. Boomers are the most selfish entitled awful generation in modern history. I appreciate that’s not what you’re saying necessarily btw.

I have negotiated decent pay jumps over the last 10 years but that has been due to moving companies. If I had stayed in the same role at the same company then yes this could easily have been true for me.

People decided to take a collective decision to blame refugees, immigrants and public sector workers for a global crash caused by irresponsible banks?

It's interesting isn't it? Because it's so broad brush there's no sense of gender, ethnicity, job type etc that can affect our perceptions. I wonder how it would look when broken down into general groups of the population.

I was going to post something similar. My wages went up by more than inflation through most of my career, but lately I’ve hit a grade ceiling. Only now I’m starting to notice my wages don’t stretch as far as they used to. It seems that to get ahead of the curve most people have to get a promotion either where they are or by moving jobs. Presumably that’s not an option for many people.

Real terms wage graph on 18:38 - Aug 25 with 912 views | Father_Jack | Yes. As a civil servant I experienced a pay freeze during the first few years of the coalition government, then a 1% annual increase when inflation was above 1%. So in reality I've had a pay cut every year since 2011. I'm due to get a 2% "increase" this year so things are getting much worse.

Same here. I feel valued here, as an employee, which I never did in The UK.
